Common use of Unscheduled Overtime Clause in Contracts

Unscheduled Overtime. The Company shall post a sheet each week for employees who wish to work overtime, to sign. The sheet will be posted on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. and removed Monday at 8:00 a.m. Employees are to indicate their willingness to work. This voluntary list will be used for unscheduled overtime for the next week. In situations where overtime is required in the form of an extension of the regular shift: i) first opportunity to work the overtime will be provided to the employee who is performing the work where the overtime is required on that shift. ii) If that person refuses to work the overtime it will be offered in descending order of seniority within the shift to qualified employees. iii) If the overtime is still not filled it will be offered to qualified employees from other shifts based on the overtime sign in sheet. iv) If the overtime is still not filled it will be offered to employees in the OPERATOR TRAINING MANUAL in order of seniority.
