Vacation Schedule. (a) The Company shall post a vacation schedule sheet, for the period of May 1st to April 30th, on each department’s bulletin board no later than the last day of February each year and each employee shall make application using the appropriate form to their supervisor as to their vacation request(s) no later than March 31st. On or after April 1st, but no later than April 30th, the Company shall post the vacation schedule and confirm vacation periods on an individual basis by seniority and skill required. Failure of an employee to choose a vacation period prior to March 31st shall result in the employee not being given the choice of vacation openings existing after April 30th. Such openings shall be granted on a first come first served basis subject to the operational requirements of the Company. If an employee applies for vacation after March 31st the Company will respond, in writing, within thirty (30) calendar days. After the employee’s vacation is confirmed by the Company, it shall not be changed without mutual agreement subject to the operational requirements of the Company. The Company will reimburse employees for costs incurred as a result of vacation cancellation provided the Company initiated the cancellation. Vacation must be taken by June 30th of each year except that five days of earned, but unused, vacation may be takencarried forward from one contract year to the next provided written notice of the intent to do so is given to the Assistant Superintendent-Business and Operations no later than June 15th. Any vacation days in excess of the five days permitted to be carried over that are unused as of June 30th will be forfeited.
4. Where an employee is prevented from using vacation because of a long- term absence, the employee can carry over vacation into the next fiscal year if the employee is able to use sick leave. If the employee is going on an unpaid leave, vacation must be exhausted first.
5. Employees who, during their scheduled vacation period, become ill or who become involved in other circumstances covered by sick leave or personal leave, are not entitled to charge any of the vacation days to sick leave or personal leave, except in those instances where an employee is hospitalized overnight on a vacation day, the days spent in the hospital shall be charged to sick leave rather than vacation days.
6. Any employee transferring from a position that is not eligible for vacation to a vacation eligible position shall have the number of years of service for vacation credit determined as follows: Divide the total number of months of service by 12. The resulting number of years shall be applied to the schedule above to establish the amount of vacation due.

D. Notwithstanding any contrary provision, the Employer reserves the right to deny vacation requests in - fourteen (14) days out work schedule must take their order to maintain proper staffing. However, vacation entitlement in a single allotment of consecutive workdaysrequests shall not be unreasonably denied. Vacation Schedule. (a) The Company A. Each Police Officer shall post receive a vacation schedule sheet, based upon the following schedule: YEARS OF SERVICE VACATION Over one (1) year through five (5) years. Two (2) weeks Over five (5) years through ten (10) years Three (3) weeks Over ten (10) years through fourteen (14) years Four (4) weeks Over fourteen (14) years Five (5) weeks Vacation is earned in accordance with time and service. Vacation taken in week blocks shall include every consecutive work day from the beginning to the end of the work week for the period individual Police Officer regardless of May 1st to April 30ththe actual number of work days in the individual Police Officer’s work week. E. Police Officers may choose to have the Borough buy back up to up to two (2) weeks of vacation time. Payment for the purchased vacation time shall be made by the Borough to the Police Officer in the first day pay period of the cyclenew calendar year, at a rate equal to the officer’s current rate of base pay in the new calendar year.
