Authorized Leave. Authorized leaves of absence from the Company shall not constitute a termination of employment for purposes of the Unit. For purposes of the Unit, an authorized leave of absence shall be an absence while the Grantee is on military leave, sick leave, or other bona fide leave of absence so long as the Grantee’s right to employment with the Company is guaranteed by statute, a contract or Company policy.
Authorized Leave. Employees with six (6) months seniority shall be entitled to leaves of absence for the following reasons provided they submit required paperwork to the Company Leave of Absence Department up to the following maximum periods:
Authorized Leave. For purposes hereof, an authorized leave of absence (authorized by the Company or a Subsidiary to the Grantee in writing) shall not be deemed a Termination of Service hereunder.
Authorized Leave. Employees with six (6) months’ seniority shall be entitled to leaves of absence for the following reasons and up to the following maximum periods: (Leaves will run concurrently with FMLA if the leave would qualify for FMLA on its own.)
13.2.1 Death in the employee’s immediate family or other personal reasons deemed sufficient by the Employer up to a three (3) month period.
13.2.2 Certified illness, injury, or pregnancy of the employee requiring absence from work up to six (6) months renewable for up to an additional six (6) month period.
13.2.3 In absences covered by Workers’ Compensation, the employee’s leave of absence shall be continuous until such time as the employee has been released from his period of temporary disability and is available and qualified for work, provided, however, such leave of absence shall not exceed fifteen (15) months. This provision is subject to the requirements of Article 15.10 of this Agreement.

Authorized Leave. In the event a night shift employee is called to court under the above provision, the following shall apply:
Authorized Leave. In accordance with applicable law and regulations, an employee will be authorized absence from work status without charge to leave or loss of pay, to which the employee is otherwise entitled, when the employee serves as either: 1) a juror or 2) a witness on behalf of any party when the Federal, State, DC or Local Government is a party to the judicial proceeding. Such employee shall be paid at his/her established rate of pay (including applicable premiums). If an employee is on approved leave/credit hours when called for jury/witness service, court leave shall be substituted.
Authorized Leave. Authorized leaves of absence from AMCE or a Subsidiary shall not constitute a termination of employment for purposes of the Agreement. For purposes of this Agreement, an authorized leave of absence shall be an absence while the Grantee is on military leave, sick leave, or other bona fide leave of absence so long as the Grantee's right to employment with AMCE or a Subsidiary is guaranteed by statute, contract, or company policy.
Authorized Leave. When absent because of authorized sick or vacation leave, each employee is paid at the regular rate.
Authorized Leave. A. Other than normal vacations, the Department will approve, in advance, up to forty-two (42) requests for leave (designated Battalion leave days) per day for 24-hour shift personnel. It is understood and agreed to between the parties that six (6) of these leave requests per day shall be reserved (first right of refusal) for employees to attend Paramedic Training classes. Upon the establishment of any new Operational Battalion, the Department agrees to increase the total number of Battalion leave days in the pool available to all operational personnel by three (3) additional days.
B. Requests for leave must be submitted within 21 calendar days but no less than two (2) duty days (seven (7) calendar days) in advance of the requested day off. The two (2) day notice requirement may be waived by the Division Chief due to extenuating circumstances.
C. The employee will receive a reply from administration within ninety-six (96) hours of request.
