Workplace bullying and harassment. The Parties are committed to eliminating workplace bullying. In particular, the following responsibilities shall apply: (a) The Department will: (i) take reasonable steps to prevent workplace bullying, harassment and violence from occurring in all workplaces; (ii) respect employees’ rights and the needs of individuals; and (iii) provide employees with formal avenues of complaint and support. (b) Teacher Aides will: (i) treat others with respect and dignity; (ii) refrain from behaviour that may constitute workplace bullying, harassment or violence; and (iii) comply with departmental policies and relevant legislation, in particular the Code of Conduct for the Queensland Public Service and the Department’s Standard of Practice. (c) Principals and Business Managers will: (i) model appropriate workplace behaviour; (ii) monitor any incidences of inappropriate behaviour and take appropriate action to resolve grievances and complaints; and (iii) deal with all complaints seriously, confidentially and in accordance with relevant directives, procedures and guidelines.
