Covering Physician means a Provider who provides health care items and services to another Provider’s patients when the other Provider is not available.

Covering Physician means a Physician or other licensed health care provider, as applicable, who has been employed by or who has entered into an agreement with APS PR or an APS PR Provider to provide Mental and Behavioral Health Services to Designated Beneficiaries when APS PR Provider is not available. • If Physician is, for any reason, from time to time unable to provide Covered Services when and as needed, Physician may secure the services of a qualified physician (the "Covering Physician") who shall render such Covered Services otherwise required of Physician.

• A Covering Physician must meet the requirements set forth by the Member's Healthcare Plan(s) and shall be required to abide by all terms and conditions of this Agreement.

• Physician shall be solely responsible for securing services of such Covering Physician.

• Covering Physician must be approved by IPA to provide Covered Services to Members and Physician shall notify IPA in advance of Covering Physician providing any services hereunder by giving his or her name, qualifications, address and telephone number and such other pertinent information as shall be required by IPA.

• Physician agrees to accept responsibility for costs associated with any deviations of Covering Physician from above requirements.

• PCP or a Covering Physician shall maintain appropriate staff privileges with at least one Participating Hospital in the Service Area.

• A violation of this Rule is grounds for disciplinary action and sanctions against a Collaborating Physician, Collaborating Pharmacist, Covering Physician, Covering Pharmacist, or pharmacy permit, and shall be prosecuted against and in the name of the Collaborating Physician, Collaborating Pharmacist, Covering Physician, or Covering Pharmacist participating in the alleged violation.

This includes Covered Services that are (1) furnished by a provider qualified to furnish Emergency services and (2) needed to evaluate or stabilize an Emergency medical condition.
