Elapsed Time definition

Elapsed Time shall be defined as the time period between the start of the faculty member’s first assignment and the end of the faculty member’s last assignment on any day.
Elapsed Time. A method of determining an Employee’s entitlement under the Plan with respect to eligibility to participate, as well as vesting, which is not based on the Employee’s completion of a specified number of Hours of Service during a consecutive twelve (12) month period, but rather with reference to the total period of time which elapses during which the Employee is employed by the Employer maintaining the Plan. If the Employer is a member of an affiliated service group [under Code Section 414(m)], a controlled group of corporations [under Code Section 414(b)], a group of trades or businesses under common control [under Code Section 414(c)] or any other entity required to be aggregated with the Employer pursuant to Code Section 414(o), Service will be credited for any employment for any period of time for any other member or such group. Service will also be credited for any individual required under Code Section 414(n) or Code Section 414(o) to be considered an Employee of any Employer aggregated under Code Section 414(b), (c) or (m).

Examples of Elapsed Time in a sentence

  • The Plan has a Service requirement of less than one (1) year or uses the Elapsed Time method to determine eligibility.

  • Under the Elapsed Time method, an Employee receives credit for the aggregate period of time worked for the Employer commencing with the Employee's first day of employment (or reemployment, if applicable) and ending on the date the Employee begins a Period of Severance which lasts at least 12 consecutive months.

  • For purposes of applying the Elapsed Time method, a Period of Severance is any continuous period of time during which the Employee is not employed by the Employer.

  • The Employer in its Adoption Agreement may elect to require a Participant to complete during a Plan Year 501 Hours of Service (or to be employed for at least 91 consecutive calendar days under the Elapsed Time Method) to share in the allocation of Employer Contributions for that Plan Year where the Participant is not employed by the Employer on the last day of that Plan Year, including the Plan Year in which the Employer terminates the Plan.

  • Unless the Employer elects to use the Elapsed Time method under AA §8-5(c), vesting Years of Service will be determined based on an Employee’s Hours of Service earned during the Vesting Computation Period.


More Definitions of Elapsed Time

Elapsed Time means the total "Period of Service" which has elapsed between a Participant's Employment Commencement Date or Reemployment Commencement Date with the Employer and "Date of Severance (Termination)" by the Employer, including "Periods of Severance" where a "One-Year Period of Severance" does not occur.

Elapsed Time. The following definitions should replace the otherwise required Year of Service, Break-In-Service and Hour of Service definitions if the Employer has selected the use of the Elapsed Time method of credited service in Section II.B.4.e. of the Adoption Agreement.
