Environmental and Social Laws definition

Environmental and Social Laws means (i) the IFC Performance Standards and the World Bank Environmental, Health, and Safety Guidelines, in each case, published from time to time by the IFC and World Bank Group respectively and (ii) any Applicable Law which relates to (A) the pollution or protection of the Environment, (B) the conditions of the workplace, (C) the generation, handling, storage, use, release or spillage of any substance which, alone or in combination with any other, is capable of causing harm to the Environment including any Hazardous Materials, (D) indigenous peoples, (E) cultural heritage or (F) resettlement or economic displacement of persons.
Environmental and Social Laws means any Applicable Law which relates to (A) the pollution or protection of the Environment, (B) the conditions of the workplace, (C) the generation, handling, storage, use, release or spillage of any substance which, alone or in combination with any other, is capable of causing harm to the Environment including any Hazardous Materials, (D) indigenous peoples, (E) cultural heritage or (F) resettlement or economic displacement of persons.
Environmental and Social Laws means any laws and regulations in effect in India or in the state where an EE Project is being undertaken, relating to the environment, occupational and community health or safety, ERMF guidelines or laws and regulations relating to usage of land/premises, including, as they relate to the foregoing: (i) the Constitution of India; (ii) the laws of India(and all of their implementation regulations, where applicable); and (iii) all other international conventions and treaties to which India is a party and which have been ratified by India and are in full force and effect, to the extent such laws and regulations are applicable to the PFI or any EE Project financed by the PFI;

Examples of Environmental and Social Laws in a sentence

  • The Borrower and its businesses, operations, assets, equipment, property, leaseholds and other facilities are, in all material respects, in compliance with the provisions of all Environmental and Social Laws.

  • The Borrowers shall, and shall cause each other Obligor to, conduct its business in such a manner so as to comply with all Environmental and Social Laws except where any non-compliance could not reasonably be expected to result in a Material Adverse Effect.

Environmental and Social Laws means laws and regulations in Jordan relating to the environment, human health or safety, or laws and regulations relating to social issues (including minimum labor standards and laws and regulations prohibiting Forced Labor or Harmful Child Labor), including: (A) the Constitution of Jordan; (B) the laws of Jordan (and all of their implementation regulations, where applicable); and (C) all other international conventions and treaties to which Jordan is a party and which have been ratified by Jordan and are in full force and effect, to the extent such laws and regulations are applicable to the Company or the Project;
Environmental and Social Laws means laws and regulations in Laos relating to the environment, human health or safety or laws and regulations relating to social issues including minimum labour standards and laws and regulations prohibiting forced labour or child labour, including: (i) the Constitution of Laos; (ii) the laws of the Recipient (and all of their implementation regulations, where applicable); and (iii) all other international conventions and treaties to which the Recipient is a party and which has been ratified by Recipient and is in full force and effect, to the extent such laws and regulations are applicable to NTPC or the Project.
Environmental and Social Laws means any applicable federal, state, provincial, foreign or local statute, law, rule, regulation, ordinance, code, binding and enforceable guideline, binding and enforceable written policy, or rule of common law now or hereafter in effect and in each case as amended, or any judicial or administrative interpretation thereof, including any judicial or administrative order, consent decree or judgment, in each case, to the extent binding on Borrower, relating to (i) the environment, the effect of the environment on employee health or safety, or hazardous materials, (ii) pollution or protection of the environment, including related laws or regulations relating to public access to information and participation in decision-making; (iii) public health, safety and security; and/or (iv) resettlement or economic displacement of persons, and any state and local or foreign counterparts or equivalents, in each case as amended from time to time.

Environmental and Social Laws means all Applicable Laws and any applicable international treaty, convention or rule to which Mexico is a party, and any administrative or judicial decisions, judgments or orders in each case having the force of law relating to the protection of the Environment, natural resources, human health and safety, Hazardous Substances, the environmental and social impacts of the Project, the rehabilitation, reclamation and closure of lands used in connection with the Project, labour, archeological or historical vestiges, land access, local communities or any other Environmental and Social Matter.
