Health Care Assistant means an employee who holds a Registered Nurse Degree or Diploma, a Registered Nurse's Assistant Certificate or a Health Care Aide Certificate valid in Ontario and who is employed, under the direction of the principal, to provide services to students who have severe medical/health needs.

Health Care Assistant is a non-health professional who works collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of the enrolled population, follow policy and procedures, and work under direction and delegation of a registered health professional. To carry out the role safely, the health care assistant must be appropriately trained, supervised and assessed as competent for the role.
