Sabbatical definition

Sabbatical leave shall mean any long-term leave of absence granted to a teacher for professional development through study.
Sabbatical. (“Sabbatical Works”) means all Intellectual Property developed during sabbaticals as authorized and approved in accordance with the College policies.
Sabbatical means a prolonged absence from work in the career of an academic employee granted on the fulfilment of stipulated conditions, for the purposes of approved scholarly or creative activity for professional development or research purposes.

Examples of Sabbatical in a sentence

  • Sabbatical leaves may be granted for the purpose of advanced study, work on research and creative projects, and for improvement of teaching skills (and for improvement of skills related to librarianship), with the expectation that in each case the College will benefit.

  • Sabbatical leaves are not granted automatically upon the completion of the necessary period of service.

  • Sabbatical leaves of absence are granted by the Board of Trustees upon the recommendation of the Dean of the Faculty/Vice President for Academic Affairs to members of the Faculty to provide professional experience that cannot be secured during the academic recesses.

  • Sabbatical leaves may be granted for periods of one year at rates not to exceed one-half basic annual salary or for periods of one-half year at rates not to exceed full basic annual salary.

  • Sabbatical leaves shall be granted for study, formal education, research and other scholarly and creative activity, or other experiences of professional value that meet the objectives of sabbatical leave and may include associated travel.


More Definitions of Sabbatical

Sabbatical means the professional leave program authorized by Wis. Stat. § 36.11(17).
Sabbatical. After the equivalent of six years of full time service, a four-month sabbatical is offered at full pay. This is exclusive of annual vacation. • Sick, personal, and bereavement leave as necessary, with any extended leave taken in consultation with the elected leadership of FAITH COMMUNITY. • Family leave: Clergy are granted up to 12 weeks paid time away from work for the birth, adoption or placement of a child. If both parents are employed by the faith community, a combined total of 12 weeks time off is granted.

Sabbatical. : means the person elected to the portfolio of the student Sabbatical and who for the duration of his term, serves on the SRC; whose term of office extends from January to December of the applicable year, who must be registered as a full-time year student and who complies with all the requirements as stated in the Cape Peninsula University of Technology statute.

Sabbatical. The Priest-in-Charge shall be entitled to a sabbatical at the end of each five years of service. The sabbatical shall be for six (6) weeks and is taken in addition to vacation and continuing education leave. At the time of the sabbatical the parish and the Diocese shall contribute to the expenses of the sabbatical according to resolutions passed by the Diocesan Council. $250 a year will be reserved in a sabbatical fund. Specific dates of sabbatical will be arranged with the Wardens and shared with the Vestry. Salary: The salary for the Priest-in-Charge will be $ 22,286 per year, including housing. The Priest-in- Charge will designate how much of the salary will be used as a housing allowance and the Vestry will adopt all necessary resolutions to comply with IRS regulations providing a tax deduction for this allowance.
