Specialized service professional means an individual from an academic discipline or field of expertise who provides individualized services to a child, such as behavioral or physical therapists.
Specialized service professional. It is hereby recognized that a typical teacher student relationship may not be applicable to positions that are designated as Specialized Service Professional. It is further acknowledged that individuals in such positions have specific job descriptions that describe and determine the basis for their performance evaluation. Within the parameters of the job description is designated the immediate supervisor of the “Specialized Service Professional”. Such positions may require a blending of traditional teaching and administrative roles as described by job description. The Salida Education Association and Salida R32J Board of Education agree that any person hired as a “Specialist” meets the qualifications for the position and has all the rights, responsibilities, and contractual provisions extended to all teachers as designated in the Master Agreement.
Specialized service professional. (SSP) as used in this Agreement shall mean all non-administrative employees, employed half-time or more, who hold a professional license in order to practice and are performing duties in the capacity of an SSP. SSPs are licensed personnel who provide support to teachers and students in areas that involve student physical, emotional, and social health and well- being, including but not limited to audiologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, school counselors, school nurses, school orientation and mobility specialists, school psychologists, school social workers and speech and language pathologists.
