Speech and Language Pathologists. Experience recognition shall be granted in accordance with the applicable provisions of Section B for professional employment as a speech and language pathologist or physiotherapist in a school district, hospital, clinic or government funded agency, provided that:
Speech and Language Pathologists. 1. Speech and Language Pathologists, as recognized in Article A.2 (Recognition of the Union), shall be paid in accordance with the salary schedule established in Article B.20.1 (Placement on Schedule).
2. Category placement for salary purposes shall be:
a. at the category assigned by the Teacher Qualification Service, for those Speech and Language Pathologists holding a valid Teaching Certificate from the Teacher Regulation Branch; or
b. otherwise, at the category which is most nearly equivalent to the category of teachers based on the years of university level training in the discipline.
3. Experience placement of all Speech and Language Pathologists on the salary schedule shall be as determined by Article B.20.6 (Placement on Schedule).
4. Salary placement shall be effective from initial employment or the first of the month following the month in which the employee advises the Board of entitlement to a change in category.
5. All other terms and conditions of employment established in this Agreement shall apply to Speech and Language Pathologists.
6. Speech and Language Pathologists who are eligible may be covered by the Teacher Pension Plan (Superannuation). Speech and Language Pathologists who are not covered by the Teacher Pension Plan shall participate in the Municipal Superannuation Plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the Pension (Municipal) Act and attendant regulations.
Speech and Language Pathologists. 1. Speech and Language Pathologists shall not be assigned a total caseload exceeding the District average of fifty (50) students. If assigned to three or more schools, the caseload cap for that SLP will be reduced by two (2).
2. Twelve (12) hours of SLPA time per day shall be allocated to SLP’s for assistance.
3. In the event the District average exceeds fifty (50) the District will promptly post an SLP position for the purpose of hiring additional SLP help in order to reduce the caseload under the fifty (50) average.
4. In the event that the District is unable to employ an SLP due to unavailability of candidates, it is agreed that XXXX’s will be hired to assist the SLP’s. If an SLPA cannot be found, a para-educator will be hired.
5. The SLP’s and Special Education Administrator will work together to determine the best placement of SLPA time. As a result of the use of SLPA’s the caseload average of SLP’s will increase proportionately to the reduced number of SLP’s (i.e. the SLP average caseload of fifty [50] would be dispersed among the remaining SLPs for each 1.5 SLPA hired).
6. If no one is hired after thirty (30) days of posting, the Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources and the Executive Director, Special Services will meet with employees to explore options.
7. Caseloads will be examined monthly, and when the caseload exceeds the average of fifty (50), the employee shall receive three (3) hours of pay at per diem per student beyond the average each month the caseload is above the average. The District and the impacted employee must agree on the calculation of the monthly caseload.
8. SLPs who are licensed to, and perform, the completion of paperwork for Medicaid billing shall receive a year-end stipend of five hundred dollars ($500.00).
Speech and Language Pathologists. This agreement shall apply in full to speech and language pathologists except where specifically modified. Wherever the term “teacher” is used in a provision in this agreement, that provision applies to speech and language pathologists except as specifically amended.
Speech and Language Pathologists a. The category placement of speech and language pathologists shall be determined in line with the principles established by the Teacher Qualification Service and this agreement for determining the salary category of teachers based on years of university level training.
b. Experience recognition shall be granted in accordance with the applicable provisions of Section B for professional employment as a speech and language pathologist or physiotherapist in a school district, hospital, clinic or government funded agency, provided that:
c. Employment shall be deemed to be equivalent to one full work year as follows:
i. for school district employment, ten (10) months, ii. for other employment, twelve (12) months.
Speech and Language Pathologists. Individuals assigned to speech and language pathologist roles may request reimbursement of up to $250 per year for American Speech-Language Hearing Association (A.S.H.A.) Certificate of Clinical Competence (C.C.C.) fee renewal. Requests must be submitted to the Business Office by June 15 of the current school year. N: 15
Speech and Language Pathologists. Speech and language pathologists hold a Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology and Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech, but do not hold a teaching certificate.
Speech and Language Pathologists. (SLP) shall work an additional ten (10) days for a total of 195 days.
13.1.2.1 By April 1, the Speech and Language Pathologists shall meet with their administrator or designee to calendar these additional ten (10) days in order to ensure coverage for the Extended School Year (ESY). Changes to the agreed-upon ESY work calendar may be made by the District after April 1, in consultation with the affected unit member.
Speech and Language Pathologists. A. The SEA and District 186 shall form a committee of seven members; three appointed by the Association and three appointed by the District, and chaired by the Director of Special Education Services. The committee shall consider issues such as Speech and Language Pathologist case load, recruitment of speech and language pathologists and recommendations or citations from governmental entities such as the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights, and Illinois State Board of Education, etc. The committee shall meet at the mutual agreement of both parties.
Speech and Language Pathologists. The school department will issue a letter annually directing that prior to implementation of services a BPS Speech/Language Pathologist shall be provided with an appropriate room, furniture and phone for uninterrupted work which will include testing, therapy and teacher/parent consultation.
