Accumulation of Sick Leave. Xxxx leave may be accumulated up to nine hundred sixty (960) hours for permanent employees. Upon termination or retirement following five (5) continuous years of active employment in a permanent position with the Port, qualified employees shall be compensated for fifty percent (50%) of their unused sick leave (within the 960 hour limit) at the rate of pay at termination. The fifty percent (50%) accumulated sick leave payoff is payable to the employee's spouse or other designated beneficiary in the event of an employee's death. One hundred percent (100%) of an employee’s accumulated sick leave (within the 960-hour limit) is payable to the employee’s spouse or other designated beneficiary in the event of an employee’s death in the line of duty.
