Assignment of Work Shifts and Schedules Sample Clauses

Assignment of Work Shifts and Schedules. Prior to December 1 of each year, a schedule shall be determined for the following year. Employees shall select a work shift and schedule for the next year on the basis of seniority within job classification. When there is a demonstrable need for a Supervisor with certain qualifications, skills and abilities or competencies on a specific shift, the Director is empowered to by-pass considerations of seniority. Shifts and schedules are determined by the Director on a once a year basis, but may be changed at other times of the year provided 30 days notice has been given to the Union. In emergency circumstances, the Director shall not be required to give the Union said 30 days advance notice. Changes in shifts and schedules may be made at other times with the written approval of the Director.
