Common use of Casual and Temporary Employees Clause in Contracts

Casual and Temporary Employees. (a) Temporary and casual employees whose tasks match those of classified positions and who possess the necessary qualifications shall be paid the pay rates, including increments, for the equivalent classifications. (b) Rates of pay for casual or temporary employees whose tasks do not match those of classified positions shall be determined through negotiations between the parties. In the event that the parties cannot reach a negotiated settlement, the Employer may assign a temporary rate of pay to the position. The temporary rate shall remain in effect until the parties negotiate a new agreement, at which time any adjustments agreed upon by the parties will be retroactive to the date the temporary rate was assigned.
