This initiative supports the Institute’s Annual Volunteering Fair held in October of each year and is designed to capture the number of hours spent volunteering by students and staff. We set a target of 10,000 hours to be achieved by end of September 2018 and the number of hours as of July 4th was 9,467. Our target is to increase the number of hours volunteered from 9,467 to 13,000 by 2020/21. This initiative fits in with our Strategic Plan objectives and with ISSE metrics related to volunteering/civic engagement. During the last Performance Compact period, we increased the number of programmes/activities with credits available for volunteering/active citizenship to five. With this new initiative, all students can receive recognition for volunteering. Gold, silver and bronze digital badges will be awarded on the basis of hours volunteered.
