Civic Leave. Employees required to appear before a court or other public body on any matter not related to their work in which they are not personally involved (as a plaintiff or defendant) and employees elected or appointed to any political or legislative position who request a leave of absence to perform their civic duty shall be granted a leave of absence without pay for the period to fulfill their civic responsibilities.
