Common use of Coffee Breaks and Meal Periods Clause in Contracts

Coffee Breaks and Meal Periods. a) There will be two (2) paid coffee breaks of fifteen (15) minutes duration on each shift, one in the first half of the shift and one in the second half of the shift. b) Employees will be given a meal period of one half (1/2) hour per shift but such period will not be considered as time worked. c) Employees will receive a fifteen (15) minute coffee break at the start (or at the earliest convenience when performing critical tasks) of each two (2) hour period worked beyond the regular day. (A coffee break will not apply to the meal break at twelve (12) hours). d) If employees are not scheduled, but are required to work beyond twelve (12) hours in a day, the Employer will provide a meal period (considered as time worked) of one half (1/2) hour and a meal for the employees .
