Deduction of Salary for Absences. 1. Deduction of salary for absences not covered by leave with pay is computed at per diem based on the annual salary for each day’s absence. This is determined by dividing the contracted salary by the number of days agreed to in the employee’s personnel contract.
2. Contracted employees who are unable to report for duty during the first pay period in September because of personal illness shall be placed on payroll and be paid 1/24 of their annual salary each pay period, as provided above, until all sick leave is exhausted. If an employee is unable to report for duty after all sick leave has been exhausted, said employee must request a leave of absence.

Deduction of salary for employee absences not covered by leave with pay is 23 computed at per diem, based on the employee’s placement on the combined salary 24 schedule (base + PRS), based on the annual salary for each day’s absence. This is 25 determined by dividing the combined contracted salary by the number of days 26 agreed to in the employee’s personnel contract.
27 2. Employees under contract who are unable to report for duty during the first (1st) 28 pay period in September because of personal illness shall be placed on the payroll 29 and be paid, pursuant to Section 27.A.1, as provided above, until all sick leave is 30 exhausted.
31 3. An employee who does not release a substitute in accordance with the approved 32 procedure for releasing a substitute will have half (0.5) the substitute daily wage 33 deducted from the employee’s salary if both the employee and the substitute 34 report for work for the same position and the substitute is not reassigned. In the 35 event there is a malfunction of District equipment, the employee shall not be held 36 liable for the substitute penalty.
