DEFINITIONS OF POSITIONS. For purposes of calculating seniority and rights of access to employee benefits, employees who are employed for ninety (90) consecutive calendar days, or more, and have successfully completed the probationary period, shall have calculations for seniority retroactive to the first day of work following their hire. Permanent Contract of Employment A contract for a permanent position Temporary Contract of Employment A contract for a pre-determined period of time of not more than one (1) year to provide service for Employer approved leaves, transient students, and temporary funding. The leave and temporary contract to cover the leave may be extended at the discretion of the Employer upon consultation with the union. Term contract of Employment A contract for a pre-determined period of time of more than one (1) year but not more than twenty-four months (24) months for a position vacant due to an employee on an Employer approved leave (ex. maternity/parental leave, long-term disability or Worker’s Compensation). Substitute Employees Substitute employees shall be those persons engaged to perform work on a call-in basis or in an emergent situation which does not require a posting. Substitute employees are not entitled to any benefits within this agreement other than salary rate.

  • – SCOPE & DEFINITIONS 2.01 The Employer recognizes the Ontario Nurses’ Association as the sole bargaining agent for all registered and graduate employees employed in a nursing capacity by Finlandia Hoivakoti Nursing Home (Finlandia Nursing Home Limited) in the City of Sudbury, Ontario, save and except Assistant Director of Care and persons above the rank of Assistant Director of Care. (a) A full-time employee shall mean an employee covered by this Agreement who is committed to and regularly works the full work period of thirty- seven and a half (37.5) hours per week, exclusive of overtime. (b) A regular part-time employee is one who is committed to and regularly works less than the full prescribed bi-weekly hours of work. (c) A casual part-time employee means an employee who is called to work on a call in basis, but who does not work a regular schedule, or does so only for a specified period. Such employee has the option of refusing work when it is made available to her, however, it is also understood that a casual part-time employee cannot unreasonably or consistently refuse to work shifts. 2.03 Whenever the feminine pronoun is used in this agreement, it includes the masculine pronoun and non-binary, where the context so requires and vice- versa. Where the singular is used, it may also be deemed to mean the plural and vice-versa.
