Common use of Discretionary Leaves Clause in Contracts

Discretionary Leaves. The City, in its discretion, may grant a leave of absence under this Article to any bargaining unit employee. The City shall set the terms and conditions of the leave, including whether or not the leave is to be with or without pay and/or with or without benefits. Such leave will be granted only when it is not detrimental to the best interests of the City.

The City shall set the terms and conditions of the leave, including whether or not the leave is to be with or without pay and/or with or without benefits. All requests for such leave must be submitted in writing by the employee via his/her department head to the City Manager. Such leave will be granted only when it is not detrimental to the best interests of the City.
