Examination Leave 35.3.1 Examination leave with pay shall be granted for an employee to write an examination for an accredited secondary school, technological institute or university subject, provided the course of study of the employee concerned can reasonably be construed by the Council as likely to increase the employee’s usefulness to the Council and is not an examination for a completely extraneous subject.
Education Leave If required by the Hospital, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications. Where employees are required by the Hospital to take courses to upgrade or acquire new employment qualifications, the Hospital shall pay the full costs associated with the courses. Subject to operational requirements, the Hospital will make every reasonable effort to grant requests for necessary changes to an employee's schedule to enable attendance at a recognized up-grading course or seminar related to employment with the Hospital."
Medical Examination Where the Employer requires an employee to submit to a medical examination or medical interview, it shall be at the Employer's expense and on the Employer's time.
Health Examination The University will provide to each member of the bargaining unit a physical examination at the time of employment. Thereafter, an examination will be provided if required by the appropriate accrediting authority, by the University, or by Statute. Employees returning from medical or disability leave must present a note from the treating physician which indicates the date the employee was able to return to duty and certifying the employee's fitness to return to work full duty. The University may, at its own cost and expense, have a physician of its choosing perform a physical examination of the employee to ensure fitness and capability to return to work.
Examination Leave With Pay At the Employer's discretion, examination leave with pay may be granted to an employee for the purpose of writing an examination which takes place during the employee's scheduled hours of work. Such leave will only be granted where, in the opinion of the Employer, the course of study is directly related to the employee's duties or will improve his or her qualifications.
Medical Examinations An employee may be required by the Employer, at the request of and at the expense of the Employer, to take a medical examination by a physician of the employee's choice. Employees may be required to take skin tests, x-ray examination, vaccination, inoculation and other immunization (with the exception of a rubella vaccination when the employee is of the opinion that a pregnancy is possible), unless the employee's physician has advised in writing that such a procedure may have an adverse affect on the employee's health.
Health Examinations The Employer shall provide at no cost to the employee, such medical tests, health examinations and surveillance/monitoring as may be required as a condition of employment and/or as a result of regulated hazards encountered after employment.
Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.
Employment Relations Education Leave Employment Relations Education Leave will be allowed in accordance with the Employment Relations Act.
Personnel Selection Leave 35.6.1 Where an employee participates in a personnel selection process for a position in the Public Service, as defined in the Financial Administration Act, the Council shall grant leave of absence with pay for the period during which the employee's presence is required for purposes of the selection process, and for such further period as the Council considers reasonable for the employee to travel to and from the place where his presence is so required.
