Extended Sick Leave (ESL). Effective January 1, 2013, the ESL bank will be implemented. 9.6.1 ESL is earned by regular full-time employees of Yakima County at the rate of four (4) hours for each month of completed service. Regular part-time employees earn ESL on a pro-rated basis according to the hours budgeted for the position. 9.6.2 An employee is eligible to use available ESL when the employee has: • an extended illness or injury lasting more than 10 consecutive work days (cannot be used for intermittent absences); • A qualified family member with an extended illness or injury lasting more than 10 consecutive work days (cannot be used for intermittent absences); • served thirty (30) consecutive days of employment; and • used 5 work days or 40 hours of PTO, SL, CT or LWOP.
