At the annual in-service in August, the Director of Transportation will provide a copy to the bus drivers of the extra trip assignments available under sections (i) and (ii) for the beginning of the school year through the second week of September and the bus drivers will have the opportunity to sign up for those extra trips up through the close of business of the second business day following the annual in-service. Within three (3) workdays, the District shall post the assignments for these extra trips, listing the assigned driver and the first alternate. Any trips for which no driver has signed up shall be listed as “no sign ups.” For the remainder of the school year, beginning August 30, no later than the fifteenth and thirtieth day of each month, the District will post extra trip assignments available under sections (i) and (ii) for the next two week period (e.g. the August 30 posting will include trips for the second two week period in September). Bus drivers will have five (5) work days from the posting to sign up for the extra trips on a posting. Within three (3) workdays, the District shall post the assignments for those extra trips, listing the assigned driver and the first alternate. Extra Trip Assignments. 10.1 a. Drivers interested in extra trip assignments may sign-up on the extra trip and extra run roster(s) each year. Following the sign-up period, the names shall be placed in order of seniority. The Bus Manager will post the trip slip information on the extra trip Board. The extra trips information will be posted in order of the date with the assignments being rotated by seniority in a manner to equalize extra trip hours, so that all Bargaining Unit Member bus drivers have the opportunity to accept or reject the same number of extra trip hours. The extra trip slip information will be transferred to a poster-sized sheet, kept up to date and prominently displayed for all drivers to see. h. A driver who is assigned to an extra trip assignment no later than of two hundred fifty (250) or more total miles will request in writing, the end use of their regular workthe school's VISA card, or expense check (if approved by the Superintendent of Schools) for pre-dayapproved expenses.

Drivers on overnight trips shall have all reasonable pre- approved itemized expenses paid by the Board upon proper receipt (gas, on the day following the offer (e.g. A trip offered on Monday meals at approved meal rate, and lodging). Pre- approval of expenses is not necessary in cases of emergency.

Emergency assignment will be handled by the supervisor but will be limited to unforeseen circumstances and will be kept to an absolute minimum.
34.8 Drivers will be allowed to trade a posted trip from the same rotation list one time with prior supervisor approval.
34.9 When a driver is assigned a trip and that trip is cancelled, the transportation supervisor shall attempt to contact the driver and assign the net available trip to that driver. If contact cannot be made and the driver reports for the cancelled trip he/she shall receive two (2) hours pay.
34.10 Drivers shall receive a minimum of two (2) hours pay for all trips driven.
34.11 Extra trips in which all drivers on the list for extra trip assignments have refused or are not available and Board approved substitute drivers are not available for service will be assigned to the least senior bus driver applying reverse seniority. The driver may be excused from this assignment under this provision only for circumstances including illness or injury that would have excluded them from their regular duty on the work day on Tuesday)that the extra trip assigned. Extra Trip Assignments. 10.1 Extra trip assignments 1. The following procedures and provisions apply to extra trips between the period of the first student day in the fall and the last student day in the spring. (The Transportation Supervisor shall contact each driver individually to report to his/her office in rotational order and shall oversee the proper signing by each driver of all trips in a timely order.)
a. In addition to drivers’ regular runs, additional wages can be earned by driving for extra trips between the period of the first student day in the fall and the last student day in the spring. Whenever possible, extra trips will be distributed posted on Wednesday, 6
a. m. the week prior to when jobs will be performed for the drivers to choose based on the seniority list on a rotational basis. Once a trip is selected, no changing or swapping of trips is allowed. If a trip comes in after Wednesday, 6 a.m. it will be posted immediately after the Wednesday list of jobs are awarded. The next driver on the list following the last driver awarded a job will be notified by the Transportation Supervisor that a job is posted and rotated among School Bus Driversit is their turn and shall continue in rotation until job or jobs are awarded. Extra A substitute driver may be used if no regular driver is available or if no regular driver accepts the job. When selecting trips, drivers may not accumulate more that 40 hours per week. An employee may be bypassed for a trip assignments assignment if the trip would cause the bus driver to exceed 40 hours in the same work week, unless overtime rates would otherwise be paid regardless of exceeded 40 hours in the work week. The Transportation Supervisor will maintain a roster for this purpose. After a driver selects a trip, he/she will sign their name to the job selected. If they choose not to accept the trip, they will write no on that trip. If a driver chooses to not accept any job when multiple jobs are posted, they will write no on all jobs and they will not be offered eligible to Bus Driversign said jobs. If the 40 hour rate causes a driver to be unable to sign the job but they would work if overtime is implemented the driver must write the word “hours” on the job posting for that job and they will be eligible to sign if their turn comes up. The administration shall make every effort to minimize the canceling of trips and the timely posting of all jobs. The rotation will then continue down the list as scheduled until awarded. All drivers of extra trips will remain at the site for the entire duration of the trip, except drivers will be allowed to leave for meal breaks. Violation of this provision will result in 1). First offense – written warning, 2). Second offense – 1 day off without pay, 3). Third offense – Ineligible for extra trips the remaining of the school year.

9.4.2.1 Effective July 1, 2007, such trips shall be assigned using a rotational list of all drivers ranked by District seniority as a Bus Driver.
9.4.2.2 The rotational list shall not be used in the following cases;
(a) If the Transportation Supervisor determines that the driver entitled to decline a trip would not be appropriate based upon safety considerations such a as driving experience on the assigned bus or type of trip, but this weather conditions, or other specifics of the trip.
(b) If the trip would conflict with a driver's work assignment in another District department.
(c) If it is necessary to assign the trip to minimize overtime.
(d) If last-minute unavailability of the driver scheduled for the trip makes the use of the rotational list impractical.
(e) If a driver is so bypassed, she/he shall count toward be eligible for the "equitable distribution" for this board in the same manner as if the assignment had been accepted. The employee has the right next available unassigned trip.
9.4.2.3 If a driver declines a trip or is not available because of refusal without discrimination or discipline. Drivers absence, she/he will not be considered to have declined extra trips for dates on which they have submitted absence request forms prior to being offered the assignment or if the extra trip assignment is offered less than forty-eight (48) hours prior moved to the trip. (b) If the trip would conflict with a driver's work assignment in another District department.
(c) If it is necessary to assign the trip to minimize overtime.
(d) If last-minute unavailability of the driver scheduled for the trip makes the use of the rotational list impractical.

Extra Trip Assignments. 10.1 A. Drivers interested in extra trip assignments may signup on the extra-trip and extra-run roster(s) not later than the end of the first scheduled day of student instruction each year. Following the sign-up period, the names shall be placed in order of seniority as defined in Article 12, Section A. Extra trip assignments shall be posted. Extra trip assignments will be distributed offered to drivers on a rotating basis.
B. The layover rate specified in Article 22 will be paid during any required sit-time while on extra trips or during delays beyond the base pay period on a regular run and for required meetings.
C. The extra trip rate shall be as specified in Article 22.
D. The extra trip rosters will be utilized to rotate extra hours available during the summer.
E. In the event no employee accepts the extra trip, the District reserves the right to assign the extra trip to the first employee originally in rotation for the assignment.
A. School year employees who have an interest in working on special projects during the summer may sign up on the summer work rosters at the Superintendent's office not later than May 15 on any given year.
B. Subsequent to May 15, the District will align the list of employees according to seniority within the employees' current classification. Available work for which the District elects to utilize the summer work rosters will be rotated among School Bus Driversstarting at the top of the list. Extra Trip Assignments. 10.1 7.7.1 Extra trips including night, weekend and holiday trips will be assigned from a list of qualified drivers. At the start of each school year, the District will create and post two rosters of bus drivers qualified to be offered extra trip assignments ("Roster A" and "Roster B"). Bus drivers will be listed on the extra trip rosters by hire date seniority order, with the most senior bus driver listed first. Roster "A" will be used for the offering and assignment of extra trips on days when school is in session and Roster "B" shall be used for the offering and assignment of extra trips on weekends/holidays. For purposes of this section, a "qualified driver" is a driver who has been employed by the District and assigned to a regular bus route for at least six (6) consecutive months.
7.7.2 As extra trip assignments become available during the year, they will be offered to bus drivers on the appropriate extra trip roster in a rotational basis, with the first driver on the appropriate list being offered the first extra trip assignment of the year, and so on.
7.7.3 If a bus driver declines an offer of an extra trip assignment, the next driver on the appropriate extra trip roster will be offered the extra trip assignment.
7.7.4 If a bus driver either accepts an extra trip assignment or declines an offered extra trip assignment, that driver will not be offered another extra trip assignment until all other drivers on the appropriate extra trip roster have been offered subsequent available extra trip assignments.
7.7.5 If a bus driver declines three (3) extra trip assignments from an extra trip roster (Roster “A” or Roster “B”) in a school year, he/she will be removed from that extra trip roster for the remainder of that school year.
7.7.6 Extra trip assignments will be distributed and rotated among School Bus Drivers. Extra trip assignments will not be offered to Bus Driver/Assistant Mechanic, Bus Driver/Dispatcher, Dispatcher/School Bus Training Officer and the Bus Driver/Trainer during the workweek. Drivers will not be considered to have declined extra trips for dates on which they have submitted absence request forms prior to being offered the assignment or if the extra trip assignment is offered less than and at least forty-eight (48) hours prior advance notice of the availability of a weekend trip is not given to a driver, the triprefusal of the driver to accept that extra trip assignment will not be counted against the driver as a refusal to accept an offered extra trip assignment.
7.7.7 If a driver reports to work to find that a trip has been canceled, the driver will be compensated for two (2) hours time. Drivers who accept The payment will not be counted as a trip taken for purpose of rotation on the appropriate extra trip roster; rather, the driver shall be offered the next available trip not already assigned to a driver on the appropriate extra trip roster. Such offer will not change the order of drivers on the extra trip rosters
7.7.8 Under no circumstances will a driver be assigned to an extra trip assignment and who are absent due involving driving conditions for which the Director of Transportation and/or Transportation Supervisor believes that the driver is unqualified.
7.7.9 If no eligible driver from the extra trip roster is available, a non-roster driver may be assigned to illness the day immediately preceding the scheduled trip, shall be considered to have forfeited the extra trip. The Director of Transportation shall have the option to review circumstances regarding the absence and make a determination which shall be considered final.

h. A driver who is assigned to an extra trip assignment no later than of two hundred fifty (250) or more total miles will request in writing, the end use of their regular workthe school's VISA card, or expense check (if approved by the Superintendent of Schools) for pre-dayapproved expenses.
i. Drivers on overnight trips shall have all reasonable pre- approved itemized expenses paid by the Board upon proper receipt (gas, on the day following the offer (e.g. A trip offered on Monday meals at approved meal rate, and lodging). Pre- approval of expenses is not necessary in cases of emergency.
j. Drivers shall be accepted or declined by the end paid a rate for extra trip over regular daily hours pay, of the employee’s work day fifty (.50) cents per hour, normal sleeping hours of eight (8) hours deductible.
