Special Trips. Drivers refusing or unable to make their trip shall be bypassed until the next regular rotation. (Drivers shall not remove their name from the list without the supervisor’s approval.) The trip shall then be awarded by seniority to a driver who unsuccessfully bid on the trip. Such awards will not affect subsequent trip "rotation".
Special Trips. 1. Bus drivers shall be paid their regular rate for actual travel time and waiting time pursuant to Section 3(f).
2. On overnight trips, the driver shall be compensated at their regular rate for actual travel time and for waiting time pursuant to Section 3(f), however, not to exceed eight (8) hours per day.
3. All qualified bargaining unit members gaining seniority as bus drivers shall be allowed to sign up for special trips. The special trips will be covered in the following manner.
a. A meeting will be scheduled between the parties to be conducted within seven (7) days of the beginning of the school year, for the purpose of signing up for fall athletic trips. A similar meeting will be scheduled for winter athletic trips.
b. Drivers who sign up will be numbered according to seniority.
c. Extra trips will be numbered consecutively as they are received in the director's office. Drivers will be given twenty-four (24) hours notice whenever possible.
d. Special trips will be assigned on a rotational basis beginning with the driver with the most classification seniority. Failure to accept an assignment on rotation will count as the same as accepting the trip.
e. Drivers on "Special Trips" where meal stops are necessary will be reimbursed for the meal at the teacher's rate.
f. Waiting time", for the purpose of this Agreement, shall be that period of time which elapses between the arrival at the destination and the time of departure home on an individual bus route.
g. Waiting time shall be paid at the minimum state hourly wage or one-half (1/2) the base rate for all union drivers, whichever is higher, for special trips and for union drivers who cross the St. Mary's River to perform substitute driving duties.
Special Trips. All special trips shall be paid at the rate of $12.16 per hour. Trips shall be a minimum of 2 hour's pay. The hourly rate will be computed on the basis of garage departure time. Special trips will be designated on a rotation basis.
a. Special trips will be defined as any trip other than a regularly scheduled bus run unless otherwise specified by bus supervisor. Probationary drivers will not be allowed to drive outside trips until they have worked ninety (90) work days as a regular driver, unless the driver was hired with at least one year of bus driving experience.
b. The school district must post requests for buses forty-eight (48) hours or more in advance of the date needed with the exception of spectator buses which will be posted as soon as possible.
c. In the event that CBDA drivers are not available, an approved driver may be assigned by the immediate supervisor. The CBDA will furnish the transportation supervisor the names of five (5) or more members available for outside trips. Trips will be taken in that order. If the driver does not want the trip or is unable to take it, the regular driver will lose his turn. If a trip is canceled, the driver that was assigned will take the first posted unassigned trip after cancellation.
d. Salary paid on Saturdays will be paid time and a half. Salary paid on Sundays and holidays will be at double time excluding the Capac Memorial Day Parade. Bus runs for the Capac Memorial Day Parade will be on a voluntary unpaid basis.
e. A minimum of one (1) adult chaperone will be assigned for every 25 students on special trips.
f. Special trips with more than 11 students will be transported by a certified bargaining unit bus driver for trips within the Lower Peninsula of the state. The district may have the option of using commercial buses and drivers to up to two (2) trips within the Lower Peninsula. When the District chooses to use commercial buses and drivers for more than two (2) trips during the year within the Lower Peninsula, bargaining unit drivers shall be compensated the hourly rate of the trip as stated in Section 1 of this Article. The number of hours of compensation shall be equal to the actual hours of driving time to and from the scheduled destination. The school district shall determine the type of transportation utilized outside of the Lower Peninsula of the state.
Special Trips. 22.8.1 Drivers who receive notification of a cancellation less than six (6) working hours prior to their scheduled departure time shall receive two (2) hours of pay at the appropriate rate. The special trip shall include but not be limited to the following: • Check-out and warm-up time • Driving time to and from departure point and a scheduled trip • Time necessary for administrative duties and clean-up of equipment
22.8.2 In the event that a trip return is later than scheduled, the driver shall notify the dispatcher in writing.
Special Trips. Special trips for overnight stays shall be paid at the rate on the salary schedule in Section 1 of Article 11 above, and compensation shall be based upon 12 hours minimum guaranteed first night and actual hours worked for subsequent days (defined as driving or supervising the bus).
Special Trips. A. Special trips will be considered as any trip less than three (3) hours long. Such trips will include, but not be limited to, bowling, play rehearsals, short class trips, etc.
B. A list of regular drivers who have indicated a willingness to take special trips will be set up on a seniority basis. After the list has been established, the assignment of runs will be on a straight rotation basis the same as the field trip procedure.
C. These trips do not count against the field trip roster.
D. A chart will be developed for the purpose of keeping the rotation record and kept on the bulletin board in the transportation office. A driver must sign the field trip list the first five (5) days of school to be eligible for trips. No names will be accepted after this date, except in the case of a new regular driver.
E. Special trip sign-up will be treated the same as field trip sign-up.
Special Trips. There are three types of Special Trips: (1) Field Trips, (2) Athletic Trips, and (3) Weekend/Holiday Trips.
Special Trips. Special Trips shall be assigned on the basis of bargaining unit seniority. Special Trips shall not take the place of a regular work shift when a Special Trip driver is available to work their scheduled working hours. However, being available shall not interfere with Title 13 CCR 1212.5.2 (b) “16 consecutive hours have elapsed since first reporting for duty”, and Title 13 CCR 12.5.5.1(A) “More than 10 hours following 8 hours off”, and Title 13 CCR 1212.5.4 “80 hours in any consecutive 8 days”.
15.6.1 Three (3) trip lists shall be established at the beginning of each school year and shall end when the school year ends. Three new lists shall be established for summer months. Special Trip assignments, within the confines of the Vehicle Code, shall be distributed and rotated among Special Trip drivers based on seniority.
15.6.2 Contracted bus drivers shall have the opportunity to sign up on the Special Trip list at the beginning of the school year or when initial training is complete.
15.6.3 To be eligible for Weekend/Holiday trip rotation, a driver must sign up on either the Field or Athletic trip rosters. If a Special Trip bus driver is unable to work his/her contracted hours on the Friday before his/her assigned week-end trip that driver is not eligible to take the week-end assignment and it shall go to the next available driver on the Special Trip list.
15.6.4 Special Trip drivers may request to be removed from a list up to two times per school year. Upon returning to a list, the driver will be placed in their rightful position based on seniority. The driver must then wait one (1) full rotation before receiving a Special Trip assignment. The driver’s name will be skipped one (1) time during the first full rotation upon their return to the list. Special Trip drivers who are off work for a period of five (5) consecutive days, will be removed from all Special Trip lists. Upon the driver’s return to work, they will be placed back on the list(s) they were previously on, in their rightful position based on seniority. The driver must then wait one (1) full rotation before receiving a Special Trip assignment. The driver’s name will be skipped one (1) time during the first full rotation upon their return to any Special Trip list. Drivers wishing to sign up to be on Special Trip roster shall have at least one (1) year of driving experience, and have ridden as observer on at least three (3) field trips. Special Trips a. Regular drivers shall be given preference for special trips on a rotating basis. Drivers may decline special trips. When regular drivers are unavailable, substitute drivers will be utilized. Trips will be offered on Friday for the following week.
b. Special trips that take place between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m., and trips between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. shall be allowed seven dollars ($7.00) per meal. Receipts will be required for meal allowances.
c. If an assigned trip is canceled, a driver will be paid the minimum of any salary lost from the assigned run if they were not notified prior to scheduled departure time. They will also be awarded the next unassigned trip for which they are available.
d. Extra trip rates will be based on 15 minute intervals.
e. Summer trips will be assigned on a rotating basis. Trips will be paid at regular trip rate.
f. If any trip is canceled, the driver will be offered the next trip by the supervisor but, the driver may defer the offer.
g. If the trip requested by the sponsor departs from the High School or Middle School, the drivers’ time begins fifteen (15) minutes before said trip start time. If the trip requested by the sponsor departs from somewhere other than the High School or Middle School, the drivers’ time begins thirty (30) minutes before said trip start time; and ends when the students are dismissed at the place of origin and the bus is parked for the night.
h. When a driver takes an extra trip during his/her regular work hours, he/she will receive his/her regular pay for that portion of the trip.
i. A driver who accepts a special trip and then cancels or fails to show up for the trip without giving at least twenty-four (24) hours advance notice to the Transportation Supervisor shall lose the driver’s next special trip opportunity except when an emergency occurs within the twenty-four (24) hour period that prevents the driver from giving the required notice.
Special Trips. Certain special trips must be driven inside the school district where students and teachers are driven to destinations where instruction takes place on a regular (daily or weekly) basis. For the drivers of such trips, there is no layover. These trips shall be bid as regular routes and as posted.
