Common use of General Leaves of Absence Clause in Contracts

General Leaves of Absence. A. Employees with a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a principal in the District may apply for an unpaid leave of absence subject to the provisions of this Section. The granting of such leave shall be at the discretion of the District. B. Such leave may be granted by the District, upon request by the principal, for extended illness of the principal's family, adoption, civic activities or other reasons deemed appropriate by the District. (For insurance, benefits and seniority, see Sections 10.11, 10.12 and 10.13 of this Article) C. An employee on leave is eligible to participate in group insurance programs for which the employee is eligible if permitted under the insurance policy provisions, but shall pay the entire premium for such programs as the employee wishes to retain, commencing with the beginning of the leave. Xx employee on leave of absence under Section 11.5 shall retain such amount of accumulated leave days, experience credit, seniority and other accrued benefits which the employee had accrued, if any, at the time the employee went on leave for use upon the employee’s return.
