Common use of General Leaves of Absence Clause in Contracts

General Leaves of Absence. 4.6.1 Leaves of absence may be granted to any employee for such things as illness, family emergency, education, etc. 4.6.2 The leave of absence of an employee on leave for reasons other than military service will terminate at the end of one (1) year in which no service has been rendered. For employees working less than 260 days the leave shall terminate at the end of their work calendar. 4.6.3 Except for military service, there shall be no other employment while on leave without prior approval of the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. 4.6.4 The District is obligated to state in writing the terms of the leave of absence. 4.6.5 The District shall assign the returning employee to the position held before the leave of absence or to a position of equivalent duties and level of pay. The layoff and recall provisions will be applicable to the employee on leave. The employee may return to duty prior to the end of the leave period if authorized to do so by the office of the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. 4.6.6 All employee benefits earned prior to a leave of absence will be maintained upon re-employment.
