HUMAN RIGHTS FRAMEWORK IN THE EU. The legal basis of the human rights framework in the EU is enshrined in Article 6 TEU which embodies the rights, freedoms and principles set out in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (ECHR).221 The ECHR was drafted in 1950 in Rome and entered into force in 1953, namely after the proclamation of the UDHR and the World War II.
