Leave for Child Care Emergencies. Employees who must miss work due to unforeseen child care emergencies may charge their absence to any accrued paid leave or to unpaid leave; provided that accrued compensatory time must be used before any other paid or unpaid leave. Employees may use no more than three (3) days per calendar year of their accrued sick leave and vacation leave, and may take no more than three (3) days of unpaid leave per calendar year, for child care emergencies. Employees using leave due to child care emergencies are not required to obtain advance approval prior to using leave, but must notify their supervisors of their absence as soon as reasonably possible and no later than the start of their scheduled shift.
