Common use of Leave for Union Activity Clause in Contracts

Leave for Union Activity. A. The Employer agrees to provide time off without loss of pay for delegates of the Union to attend Union conventions, conferences or educational programs provided that the total amount of time without loss of pay shall not exceed a total of fifteen (15) days available annually during the term of this Agreement. A maximum of five (5) unused days may be carried over from year to year. The right of the carryover expires with the term of this Agreement.

A The Union shall request, in writing, approval from the Office of Legal and Employment Affairs to use such leave. Such request shall be made, in writing, no less than two (2) weeks in advance by the Union specifying the type of Union activity for which time off is sought, the individual(s) to be granted the time off, and the maximum amount of five (5) unused days may time to be carried over from year to year.
