Leave of Absence for Public Duties. The Employer recognizes the right of an Employee to participate in public affairs. Therefore, upon written request, the Employer shall allow leave of absence without pay so that the Employee may be a candidate in a Federal, Provincial or Municipal election. Employees may continue benefits through the Employer at the Employee's cost. If elected the Employee shall be granted leave of absence without loss of seniority for the term of the elected office. In the event of an Employee being elected to a full-time executive position to a National or Provincial Labour Organization to which the Local Union is affiliated to or chartered by, the Employee shall be given leave of absence without pay for a period of up to two (2) years and extended in the event of re-election.
