Common use of Leaves for Union Business Clause in Contracts

Leaves for Union Business. Members of the Union elected to Local Union positions or selected by the Union to do work which takes them from their employment with the Employer will be granted, at the written request of the employee, leaves of absence for periods not to exceed two (2) years or the term of office. Such leaves may be renewed upon written request of the employee. The employee's seniority will accrue to one (1) year and at that time it will be frozen until the employee returns to work with the Employer.
