Meritorious Leave. The Board may grant a leave of absence upon the request of a teacher for reasons of professional development or for other reasons not otherwise herein provided. In determining whether to grant any such leave, the Board shall consider: 1. The past performance of the teacher; 2. The staffing needs and other requirements of the District; 3. The length of service of the teacher and the probability that the teacher will return to the service of the Board; and 4. The purpose or purposes of the leave.
