AUTHORIZED ABSENCE. Since the absence of professional employees generally has an adverse affect on the quality of the educational program, imposes increased responsibilities on other members of the professional staff, and increases cost, it is the responsibility of employees to avoid unnecessary tardiness or absence. The provisions herein set forth are not intended to reduce the professional responsibilities of employees nor to provide a form of additional compensation. Rather, they are intended to meet the legitimate humanitarian and professional needs of employees in a manner consistent with the requirements of the educational program and they shall be so applied and interpreted.
AUTHORIZED ABSENCE. A teacher may be granted five (5) days of authorized absence for personal reasons without pay during any school year for activities which cannot reasonably be performed outside of regular duty hours or on a non- school day.
AUTHORIZED ABSENCE. During an authorized leave of absence, an employee shall maintain and accumulate seniority.
AUTHORIZED ABSENCE. Certified staff may be properly absent from duty as provided by this agreement and within the provisions of the law governing such absence, or as authorized by the Board or by the Superintendent. Partial or full compensation during a period of excused absence shall be paid within the limitations of the agreement and/or the laws governing such absences. Absence without pay may be authorized by the Board for reasons and with limitations provided in the ORC, this agreement, and Board policy.
AUTHORIZED ABSENCE. No salary deductions shall be made for absences for attendance at conferences and meetings as a representative of the Belmont Public Schools and for other absences authorized by the Superintendent or designee.

The provisions hereinafter set forth are not intended to reduce the professional responsibilities of a Bargaining Unit Member nor to provide a form of additional compensation. Rather they are intended to meet the humanitarian and legitimate needs of the Bargaining Unit Members in a manner consistent with the requirements of the educational program and they shall be so applied and interpreted.
AUTHORIZED ABSENCE. An employee may apply in writing to his or her appropriate Vice President for a leave of absence without pay for a period not to exceed one (1) year for reasons of personal illness, illness in the immediate family, disability, for the purpose of furthering the employee’s education or training for other valid reasons. The Vice President will forward the request with his or her recommendation to the Office of Human Resources who in turn may submit the request for final approval to the President. During such a leave, the employee will earn no seniority or other employment benefit except that, subject to the laws of Delaware and the terms of insurance policies then in effect, the employee may continue such insurance and pension benefits at his or her expense to the extent they are eligible.

Rather, the provisions are intended to meet the legitimate, humanitarian, and personal needs of an employee in a manner consistent with the requirements of the educational program and they shall be so applied and interpreted.
AUTHORIZED ABSENCE. Absence which is taken in accordance with this Agreement.
AUTHORIZED ABSENCE. Industrial accident or illness leave will be reduced by one day for each day of authorized absence regardless of a compensation award made under workmen’s compensation.
