Common use of Meritorious Leave Clause in Contracts

Meritorious Leave. The Employer may grant a leave of absence upon the request of employees for reasons of family emergencies, funerals, or for meritorious reasons not otherwise provided herein. In determining whether to grant any such leave, the Employer shall consider: A. The past performance of the employee; B. The staffing needs and other requirements of the College; C. The length of service of the employee and the probability that the employee will return to the service of the College; and D. The purpose or purposes of the leave. Leave may be with or without pay and if with pay, shall be charged against current or accumulated sick leave as mutually agreed between the Employer and the employee.
