Multilingual/Sign Language/Braille Premium Pay. Whenever a classified position has a bona fide requirement for regular use of competent skills in more than one language, and/or sign language (AMESLAN), and/or Braille, the Employer will authorize premium pay of two (2) steps above the level normally assigned for that position, except for those instances where the position is allocated to a class that specifies these skills.

If this requirement is not included in the employee’s position description, refusal by the employee to interpret will not result in corrective action.

If an employee receiving language pay 30 transfers or is promoted into a position which also necessitates the use of the 31 employee's language skills, as determined in writing by the employer, the language pay 32 benefit will be paid as a premium.

  • Bilingual Pay Where the Employer currently pays bilingual pay or bonuses, it shall continue to do so. The Employer retains discretion to initiate bilingual pay or bonuses. The minimum bilingual bonus or hourly equivalent is $25 per pay period. The Employer may not require an employee to use bilingual skills without paying the appropriate bonus or pay. This does not apply to employees where such skills are in the classification specification.

  • Adjunct Faculty 5.1 Adjunct faculty" shall be used in this Agreement to mean temporary faculty as defined in California Education Code Section 87482.5. This definition shall also apply to tenured/tenure-track faculty who hold overload or other assignments outside of their regular contract assignment.
