Common use of Paid Bereavement Leave Clause in Contracts

Paid Bereavement Leave. (1) An Employee shall be granted a minimum of four (4) regularly scheduled consecutive work days’ leave, without loss of pay or benefits, in the case of death of a member of her immediate family or any other relative who is residing in the same household, or any other relative for whom the Employee is required to administer bereavement responsibilities. Where the burial occurs 200 km or more from the City of Ottawa, such leave shall include reasonable traveling time. The total leave shall not exceed six (6) working days. (2) An Employee shall be granted a minimum of two (2) regularly scheduled consecutive workdays’ leave, without loss of pay or benefits, in the case of death of a member of her extended family. Where the burial occurs 200 km or more from the City of Ottawa, such leave shall include reasonable traveling time. The total leave shall not exceed four (4) working days.
