Paid Bereavement Leave. ‌ (a) In the case of death of immediate family, an employee will be entitled to special leave, at their regular rate of pay, from the death up to and including the day of the funeral or service with, if necessary, an allowance for immediate return travelling time. Such leave will normally not exceed five workdays. (b) Immediate family is defined as a parent, spouse, parent-in-law, child, sibling, grandchild or any other relative with whom the employee permanently resides. (c) In the event of the death of the employee’s grandparents, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, the employee will be entitled to special leaves of one day for the purpose of attending the funeral or service.
