Part Time Apprentices. A person may undertake an apprenticeship on a part time basis by working less than full time hours, and by undertaking the approved training over the same time as a full time apprenticeship or over a lesser time than a full-time apprentice. Subject to this clause, a part time apprentice shall receive all employment conditions applicable to a full time apprentice, but on a pro rata basis. Where the approved training for an apprentice is provided off-the-job by a registered training organisation, for example at school or at TAFE, these rates shall apply only to the total hours worked by the part time apprentice on-the-job. A part time apprentice may, by agreement, transfer from a part time to a full time position should one become available.
