Pay on Demotion. When an employee is demoted, the employee’s rate of pay shall be maintained where such hourly rate exists in the new Pay Band of the lower paid classification. Where such hourly rate does not exist in the new Pay Band, the hourly rate shall be reduced to the hourly rate in the new Pay Band which is the step next below the employee’s highest current hourly rate.
Pay on Demotion. ‌ Upon demotion, should the maximum pay rate in the lower grade be greater than the pay rate currently paid to the employee, the employee's current rate will remain unchanged. If the employee's pay rate before demotion is above the maximum appropriate new grade, the employee's pay rate shall be reduced to the maximum of the appropriate new pay grade.
