Political capacity, support and policies. To start the description of the implementation context, we will first look at the dimension ‘political capacity, support and policies’ in general. This dimension deals with several broad aspects or variables that provide a better understanding of the ‘political climate’ of a certain country. The three aspects, which are identified here – political stability, control of corruption and political participation – are considered to be important conditions for all kinds of public policies, including transport policies. It is important to note that the dimension ‘political capacity, support and policies’ has a general scope and is not focused on or limited to (A) Political Stability First, we start with the aspect of political stability. It is almost self-evident that basic political stability and the absence of violence are essential conditions for the construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure. In addition, it is also crucial for attracting private investments in infrastructure projects. This aspect is captured by the ‘political stability and absence of violence index’ developed by the World Bank. It is one of the six ‘worldwide governance indicators’, which exist since 1996 and are systematically updated since 2002 for all countries worldwide. It basically captures the perceptions of the likelihood of political instability and/or politically-motivated violence, including terrorism. It is a combination of the perceptions of a very diverse group of respondents, collected in large number of surveys and other cross-country assessments of governance. This aggregated indicator combines the views of a large number of enterprise, citizen and expert survey respondents in industrial and developing countries. They are based on 32 individual data sources produced by a variety of survey institutes, think tanks, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, and private sector firms. The practical advantages of this indicator are obvious: since 2002 systematically gathered, for all countries in our sample and freely available. The aggregated nature of the index however has of course both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is the fact that multiple viewpoints are captured, and therefore its empirical richness. Yet, it is very difficult to decompose the index into its many components which has led to some criticisms (too complex, not reproducible, etc.) (Xxxxxxxx, 2007).   • Training and Orientation (a) No employee shall be required to work on any job or operate any piece of equipment until he/she has received proper training and instruction. (b) The Employer shall provide sufficient and adequate training and/or orientation to any employee working in a new or unfamiliar work area or position.

  • DRUG AND ALCOHOL FREE WORKPLACE 20.1 All employees must report to work in a condition fit to perform their assigned duties unimpaired by alcohol or drugs.

  • Workplace Safety Insurance 20.1 Each member covered by this Agreement who is absent on account of injuries received while on duty and who is receiving a pension, salary or wage award from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board shall be entitled to be paid the difference between the pension wage and salary award from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and his or her current net salary as long as such member remains in the employ of the Niagara Police Board. This shall be applied such that the combination of any WSIB salary or wage award plus the employer top-up shall, in total, equal the net pay of the member's current salary. The non- economic loss portion of any WSIB pension payments shall not be considered as being a salary or wage award, and hence shall not form part of these calculations. Any member who does not comply with the provisions of the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act or Regulations thereto and subsequently receives a salary or wage award or an amount less than the prevailing maximum payable, due to such non-compliance, shall not receive from the Niagara Police Board the difference between the wage or salary award paid by the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board and his or her current net salary. For the purpose of this Clause, net pay shall be the pay for the rank of the member as shown in Appendix "A" less those deductions required under Government Statutes, pension plans and as provided for in this Agreement. 20.2 Subject to the terms of this Article, each member covered by this Agreement who is injured as a result of carrying out his/her duties shall not be deprived of his/her vacations or statutory holidays as a result thereof, and shall accumulate such vacation credits and statutory holidays as he/she might otherwise receive. 20.2.1 Each member shall be entitled to accumulate the float time that he/she might otherwise receive for a period of three (3) months following the injury. 20.2.2 In respect of members who have been off work and receiving WSIB benefits for less than two

  • Training and Support Licensor shall offer installation support to the Licensee and each of the Members, including assisting with the implementation of any Licensor software. Licensor will provide appropriate training to Licensee and Member staff relating to the use of the Licensed Materials and any Licensor software. Licensor will offer reasonable levels of continuing support to assist Licensee and Members in use of the Licensed Materials, including providing help files and other appropriate user documentation in connection with the use of and access to Licensed Materials. Licensor will, at a minimum, make its personnel available by email, telephone or via the Web, or in person during Licensor’s regular business hours, Monday through Friday, for training and user access support.

  • COUNTY’S QUALITY ASSURANCE PLAN The County or its agent will evaluate the Contractor’s performance under this Contract on not less than an annual basis. Such evaluation will include assessing the Contractor’s compliance with all Contract terms and conditions and performance standards. Contractor deficiencies which the County determines are severe or continuing and that may place performance of the Contract in jeopardy if not corrected will be reported to the Board of Supervisors. The report will include improvement/corrective action measures taken by the County and the Contractor. If improvement does not occur consistent with the corrective action measures, the County may terminate this Contract or impose other penalties as specified in this Contract.
