PRESERVATION, PACKAGING, AND PACKING. PRESERVATION, PACKAGING, AND PACKING (FEB 1996) Unless otherwise specified, all items shall be preserved, packaged, and packed in accordance with normal commercial practices, as defined in the applicable commodity specification. Packaging and packing shall comply with the requirements of the Uniform Freight Classification and the National Motor Freight Classification (issue in effect at time of shipment) and each shipping container of each item in a shipment shall be of uniform size and content, except for residual quantities. Where special or unusual packing is specified in an order, but not specifically provided for by the contract, such packing details must be the subject of an agreement independently arrived at between the ordering agency and the Contractor. PRESERVATION, PACKAGING, AND PACKING. Unless otherwise specified herein, supplies shall be preserved, packaged, and packed in accordance with best standard commercial practices for domestic shipment which shall be adequate to ensure against damage/deterioration during transit and storage pending usage. Deliverable items furnished hereunder shall be adequately packaged and packed to ensure safe delivery at destination.

The contractor shall preserve, pack and package items procured for system stock, overseas destinations or ships at sea, in accordance with the MIL-STD-2073-1 Level A requirements delineated in the schedule or elsewhere in the contract or order. If specific requirements are not included in the contract or order, the contractor shall preserve and package in accordance with previously approved level A requirements, within the technical parameters contained in MIL- STD-2073-1. Preservation and packing materials shall be fire retardant/non- combustible as prescribed in the specific packaging requirements in the contract or order, and to the maximum extent practicable.

  • Packing 9.1 The supplier shall provide such packing of the goods as is required to prevent their damage or deterioration during transit to their final destination, as indicated in the contract. The packing shall be sufficient to withstand, without limitation, rough handling during transit and exposure to extreme temperatures, salt and precipitation during transit, and open storage. Packing, case size and weights shall take into consideration, where appropriate, the remoteness of the goods’ final destination and the absence of heavy handling facilities at all points in transit.
