Recognized Holidays. (11.01) The following holidays are recognized: New Year's Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. When any of the aforementioned holidays falls on a Sunday it shall be observed on the day designated as the holiday. The holiday shifts shall be those starting within the 24-hour period of the recognized holiday. Employees shall also be entitled to a holiday on their birthday, which must be taken within 45 days following their birthday or forfeited. The Company has the right to substitute any new statutory holidays with existing recognized holidays. (11.02) Employees who are scheduled to work on a recognized holiday but are not required to work will receive their full weekly salary. (11.03) Employees who are required to work on a holiday shift shall be paid a minimum of a full day's pay at the rate of one and a half times their straight time rate in addition to their regular weekly salary. Authorized overtime worked on a holiday shall be paid at the rate of one and a half times the straight time rate. By mutual agreement with the Department Head, the employee may choose equivalent time off in lieu of all or part of the holiday premium pay and overtime pay specified above. The Employer reserves the right to limit the amount of time off to be accumulated by an employee. Time off shall be taken at a mutually agreed time and a request to take time owing shall not be unreasonably denied. Granting of time owing shall be confirmed in writing when requested. (11.04) An employee whose regular day off falls on a recognized holiday shall receive an additional day off at another date. It is understood that if an employee's regular day off and birthday both fall on a day designated as one of the nine other recognized holidays in Section 11.01, the employee will receive two additional days off at another date. (11.05) In a pay week which includes a recognized holiday, work on either or both of the scheduled days off shall be at the overtime rate in spite of the fact that the employee has worked only 4 scheduled days in the pay week (3 scheduled days if the employee's birthday occurs in the pay week) by reason of having the holiday off.

Recognized Holidays. (c) If an employee works on a recognized holiday, the employee shall receive a premium of one-half (½) times basic salary and a lieu day off with pay. If such a day off is not scheduled, the employee shall receive a further premium in the amount of one and one-half (1½) times the employee’s basic salary for a day in addition to basic salary for the week. 18.04 The Employer will endeavour to take into consideration the wishes of affected employees in the scheduling of lieu days. 18.05 The premiums set out in Article 18.03 will normally be paid in cash unless otherwise agreed between the employee and the Employer. 18.06 If a recognized holiday occurs during an employee’s vacation, he or she shall receive an extra day of vacation with vacation pay at his basic salary, an extra day’s pay computed at time and a half or an extra day off at a time mutually agreeable between the employee and his Bureau Chief. 18.07 An employee whose workday begins on Christmas Day shall receive two and one-half (2½) times basic pay for the work plus a lieu day under Article 18.03 (c). Although Christmas Eve is not a statutory holiday, an employee who are scheduled works a night shift on Christmas Eve shall receive two and one-half (2½) times basic salary for the work, but no lieu day. An employee who works both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day shall receive only the Christmas Day premium and lieu day. The same arrangement shall apply to New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. 18.08 An employee who is called in to work on a recognized holiday but are not required to work will shall receive their full weekly salarya minimum of seven (7) hours pay at the appropriate premium rate. Recognized Holidays. (d) In the event that by either a provincial or federal proclamation, another statutory holiday is designated, a floater will be fixed on that date and no other day will be added to those listed in Clause 11.01. 11.02 Where any one of the holidays listed in Clause 11.01(a) falls on a Saturday or Sunday it shall and there has been no government proclamation requiring its observance on another day, the holiday will be recognized on either the following Monday or preceding Friday, unless otherwise agreed to by the Union-Management Committee. 11.03 Where two holidays fall on consecutive days and these days are Saturday and Sunday and there has been no government proclamation requiring their observance on other days, the Company will recognize the holidays on the following Monday and Tuesday, unless otherwise agreed to by the Union- Management Committee. 11.04 Recognized holidays will be observed by 12 hour shift employees on the actual calendar day designated regardless of the proclaimed date, and such employees will be eligible for holiday pay or overtime rates for scheduled work, only on that day, except as noted in the following circumstances: (a) In the case of New Year’s Day holiday, statutory holiday overtime premium will be paid for the night shift of December 31, and the day shift of January 1; (b) In the case of the Boxing Day holiday night shift, statutory holiday overtime premium will be moved to the Christmas Eve night shift; (c) When a 12 hour shift employee is assigned to the Day (EDO) schedule, or the Day part of the shift team rotation, they will be treated for purposes of holiday observance as a Day worker (refer to Clause 11.02). 11.05 For each of the holidays listed in Clause 11.01(a), employees will be paid holiday pay equivalent to eight hours at the rate such employee was earning immediately prior to the holiday, except under the following circumstances: (a) employees who fail to work when regularly scheduled to do so on a Company recognized holiday, without just reason; (b) an employee who is absent without permission or justifiable reason on either of their regular working days immediately preceding or following a recognized holiday; (c) an employee who is on an approved leave of absence without pay for more than one week, during which time a recognized holiday or holidays occur. For the purpose of this clause, one week is defined as seven consecutive days commencing on the first day of the leave. 11.06 An employee who fails to report for work on a Company recognized holiday as a result of sickness or accident will receive all sickness benefits for which they are eligible, but will receive no additional compensation for the holiday. (11.05) In a pay week which includes a recognized holiday, work on either or both of the scheduled days off shall be at the overtime rate in spite of the fact that the employee has worked only 4 scheduled days in the pay week (3 scheduled days if the employee's birthday occurs in the pay week) by reason of having the holiday off.

Recognized Holidays. (11.018.01) The following holidays are recognized: New Year's ’s Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. (11.028.02) Employees who are scheduled to work on a recognized recog- nized holiday but are not required to work will receive their full weekly salary. (11.038.03) Employees who are required to work on a holiday shift shall be paid a minimum of a full day's ’s pay at the rate of one and a half times their straight time rate in addition to their regular weekly salary. Authorized overtime worked on a holiday shall be paid at the rate of one and a half times the straight time rate. By mutual agreement with the Department Head, the employee em- ployee may choose equivalent time off in lieu of all or part of the holiday premium pay and overtime pay specified above. The Employer reserves the right to limit the amount of time off to be accumulated by an employee. Time off shall be taken at a mutually agreed time and a request to take time owing shall not be unreasonably denied. Granting of time owing shall be confirmed in writing when requested. All existing lieu days as of July 1, 2009 must be used by Au- gust 31, 2010. Any lieu days accumulated from July 1, 2009 onwards must be used within 90 days or will be paid out. (11.048.04) An employee whose regular day off falls on a recognized recog- nized holiday shall receive an additional day off at another date. It is understood that if an employee's ’s regular day off and birthday both fall on a day designated as one of the nine other recognized holidays in Section 11.01801, the employee will receive two additional days off at another date. In cases where an employee is assigned the duties and responsibilities of a higher paying classification, for a minimum of one week, and a Recognized Holiday falls within such one week period, that is to say, not the first day or last day of such assignment, the employee shall receive the applicable rate for the higher paying classification for the Recognized Holiday. 29.4 A full-time employee on the seniority list and presently actively employed and on the payroll shall receive pay at basic rate/daily salary as set out in Schedule “A” times regularly scheduled daily hours for each Holiday listed in this Article if: (a) the full-time employee works his/her scheduled shift immediately preceding and succeeding the Recognized Holiday unless absence is the result of personal illness or accident in which case the Employer may require verification by a medical doctor's certificate as to the illness or accident; (b) the full-time employee who has been recalled must work the day designated as before and the holiday. The holiday shifts shall be those starting within day after the 24-hour period of the recognized holiday. (11.05) In 12.02 An additional holiday to be known as a pay week which includes floating holiday is provided. This holiday will be individually agreed upon between the Employer and the employee and will be at no additional cost to the Board. It is mutually agreed that this holiday will be taken in the contract year and cannot accumulate from year to year. 12.03 Whenever a recognized holiday listed above falls on Saturday or Sunday, the preceding Friday or the following Monday will be declared a holiday, work on either or both . An employee is entitled to vacation leave with pay upon the completion of each successive year of employment. An employee who has worked only 4 scheduled days completed six (6) months of continuous employment may receive an advance of one (1) week of vacation leave with pay before the completion of the vacation year. In the event of termination of employment the Employer shall recover from the employee an amount equivalent to any unearned vacation taken by the employee in accordance with Article and such amount may be withheld from any monies owed to the employee. Applications for annual vacation shall be submitted by the employees to the Employer no later than February 1st of each year and will be allocated by the Employer no later than March 1st of each year. Subject to operational requirements, vacations will be allocated insofar as possible in accordance with employee preference. All vacations must be taken in the pay week (3 scheduled days if the employee's birthday occurs year in the pay week) by reason of having the holiday offwhich they are earned and cannot be accumulated from year to year.

Employees with less than six (6) months of net credited service on January 1, Canada Dayshall be eligible and shall designate one (1) Floating Holiday and it may be taken after six (6) months of service has been completed. When any employees not scheduled to work will have the option of electing either a paid Holiday Allowance or a day off with pay at their basic wage rate thereafter in the calendar year or during the first four (4) months of the aforementioned holidays following year as approved by the Supervisor. Employees shall also be entitled to a holiday on their birthday, which must be taken within 45 days following their birthday or forfeited. The Company has the right to substitute any new statutory holidays with existing recognized holidayssecond preceding week. (11.02) Employees who are 21.07 Regular full-time employees scheduled to work on a recognized Recognized Holiday may be excused without pay for time not worked to the extent the service requirements will permit without loss of the Holiday Allowance. 21.08 Regular full-time employees absent without pay other than for Company excused absences, on either the employee’s last scheduled work day before the Recognized Holiday or the employee’s first scheduled work day after the Recognized Holiday shall not be paid a Holiday Allowance. 21.09 If a regular full-time employee is absent from work because of a personal illness on both of the regular work days which immediately precede and follow a Recognized Holiday, the Recognized Holiday shall be considered a day of illness and the entire absence shall be handled as any other illness case. 21.10 A regular full-time employee who works a holiday but are not required to work shift will receive their full weekly salarybe paid: (A) A Holiday Allowance, as defined in paragraph 21.01, and (B) A Holiday Premium payment consisting of one and one-half (1 ½) times the basic hourly wage rate including applicable differentials for hours worked inside the employee’s normally scheduled shift. (11.03C) Employees who are required A Holiday Premium payment of two and one-half (2 ½) times the basic hourly wage rate including applicable differentials for hours worked outside of the employee’s normally scheduled shift. The Employer reserves the right to limit the amount of time off deemed to be accumulated by an employee. Time off shall be taken at a mutually agreed time and a request to take time owing shall not be unreasonably denied. Granting of time owing shall be confirmed in writing when requestedthe recognized holiday. (11.04) 9.03 An employee whose regular day off falls on a recognized holiday shall receive received an additional day with pay off at another datedate mutually agreed to by the employee and the Employer. It is mutually agreed that this holiday will be taken in the contract year and cannot accumulate from year to year. 12.03 Whenever a recognized holiday listed above falls on Saturday or Sunday, the preceding Friday or the following Monday will be declared a holiday, work on either or both . The remaining Holiday will be taken as a Floating Holiday and scheduled in accordance with 21.02 (B) below. 21.02 The following provisions apply to eligibility and scheduling requirements for the Floating Holiday: (A) A regular employee with at least six (6) months of net credited service on January 1, Victoria Dayshall be eligible for and shall designate one (1) Floating Holiday at that time. Em- ployees with less than six (6) months of net credited service on January 1, Canada Dayshall be eligible and shall designate one (1) Floating Holiday and it may be taken after six (6) months of service has been completed. (B) An eligible regular employee must request specific days in the calendar year other than a non-scheduled day, Civic Saturday, Sunday, another Recognized Holiday, Labour DayEx- cused Work Day or vacation day to be observed as the Floating Holiday. (C) Employees who work on that Floating Holiday will receive pay treatment as de- scribed in paragraph 21.10 (A) and (B). 21.03 Recognized Holidays observed Monday through Friday will be included in all basic weekly work schedules. 21.04 When a Recognized Holiday falls on Saturday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. When any employees not scheduled to work will have the option of electing either a paid Holiday Allowance or a day off with pay at their basic wage rate thereafter in the calendar year or during the first four (4) months of the aforementioned holidays following year as approved by the Supervisor. The day subsequently approved in lieu of the Satur- day holiday will be treated as the Recognized Holiday for all purposes and may not be changed or rescheduled. This provision does not apply to Floating Holidays. 21.05 When a Recognized Holiday, falls on a Sunday it Sunday, the following Monday shall be observed on the day designated as the holidayRecognized Holiday and shall be treated the same as any Monday on which a Recognized Holiday falls. For pay purposes, the Sunday shall be treated the same as any Sunday on which a Recognized Holiday does not fall. 21.06 Employees may be scheduled for work on Recognized Holidays. The number of holiday shifts scheduled will be kept to the minimum required to meet the needs of the business. Schedules of individuals who will be required to work a Recognized Holiday shall be those starting within the 24-hour period posted or otherwise made available by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday of the recognized holiday. Employees shall also be entitled to a holiday on their birthday, which must be taken within 45 days following their birthday or forfeited. The Company has the right to substitute any new statutory holidays with existing recognized holidayssecond preceding week. (11.02) Employees who are 21.07 Regular full-time employees scheduled to work on a recognized Recognized Holiday may be ex- cused without pay for time not worked to the extent the service requirements will permit without loss of the Holiday Allowance. 21.08 Regular full-time employees absent without pay other than for Company excused ab- sences, on either the employee’s last scheduled work day before the Recognized Holi- day or the employee’s first scheduled work day after the Recognized Holiday shall not be paid a Holiday Allowance. 21.09 If a regular full-time employee is absent from work because of a personal illness on both of the regular work days which immediately precede and follow a Recognized Holiday, the Recognized Holiday shall be considered a day of illness and the entire absence shall be handled as any other illness case. 21.10 A regular full-time employee who works a holiday but are not required to work shift will receive their full weekly salarybe paid: (A) A Holiday Allowance, as defined in paragraph 21.01, and (B) A Holiday Premium payment consisting of one and one-half (1 ½) times the basic hourly wage rate including applicable differentials for hours worked inside the employee’s normally scheduled shift. (11.03C) Employees who are required A Holiday Premium payment of two and one-half (2 ½) times the basic hourly wage rate including applicable differentials for hours worked outside of the employee’s normally scheduled shift. All full-time suppression/shift employees, or suppression/shift employees assigned to days on a limited basis, shall receive as compensation for working on Holidays, an additional 144 hours of pay per year at the employee’s base monthly compensation, inclusive of all incentives. Hours may be sold in increments of 12 hours per month for 12 months, or however they choose, i.e. one lump sum, or any combination in 12 hour increments throughout the year.
