REHEARSAL BREAKS. Standardly, there will be a break of 15 minutes during each rehearsal session. The break shall be called within the first two and a half hours of a four hour call and within the first two hours of a three hour call. • Breaks during technical rehearsals on stage During technical rehearsal sessions, there will be a break of 15 minutes for every musician, which shall be called within the first two and a half hours of a four hour call and within the first two hours of a three hour call. Rehearsal sessions of up to two hours do not require a scheduled break. The timings of technical rehearsal sessions for musicians include time for dressing into costume and out of costume. • Breaks between sessions Breaks between musicians’ rehearsal or performance calls will be at least 45 minutes long. This does not apply to Early Calls (please see page 10). • Performance breaks Many shows at the Globe include pre-show and interval music. Show lengths can vary considerably. Musicians perform from different locations and so performance breaks will be applied flexibly and in collaboration with the MD and band, but in accordance with the following principles. - Performance calls of up to 3 hours will include a break of 15 minutes for each musician, - Performance calls of up to (and including) 4 hours will include a break of 20 minutes for every musician, which can be allocated in two instalments of 10 minutes each. - Performance calls of more than 4 hours will include a break of 25 minutes for every musician, which can be allocated in two instalments, one of 10 minutes and one of 15 minutes. The individual musicians’ breaks will be allocated by management in collaboration with the MD, composer and director over the course of technical rehearsals and preview performances, as and when show timings settle and the appropriate moments in the show can be identified. The above rules for breaks and any break infringement payments will therefore apply from Press Night onwards.

SYMPHONY shall make best efforts to announce the break schedule at the beginning of the rehearsal.

REHEARSAL BREAKS. There shall be a break of ten minutes per hour of rehearsal, which time cannot be taken at the beginning or at the end of rehearsal, unless agreed to by the Chair of the Orchestra Players Committee. This agreement shall not be unreasonably withheld. There shall be a break after a maximum of one-and-one-half hours of rehearsal time.
REHEARSAL BREAKS. There will be at least one (1) 10 minute break called at a 2 hour rehearsal, at least one (1) 15 minute break called at a 2-1/2 hour rehearsal, and at least two (2) 10 minute breaks called at a 3 hour rehearsal. During a 3 hour rehearsal the second break must be called no later than 2-1/2 hours after the call began unless approved by a majority vote of the Orchestra. Breaks may be staggered as to individuals, but no one shall be required to play over 1 hour and 20 minutes without a break at any rehearsal, except dress rehearsals for opera, choral and ballet when acts or the entire choral work without intermission when played straight through exceeds 1 hour and 20 minutes.   • Meal Breaks The timing of meal breaks on any particular job may be discussed between the Employer and the majority of employees at a particular site and varied by agreement. Occupational health and safety considerations will always prevail.

  • Meal Break a) Employees who work for more than five continuous hours are entitled to an unpaid meal break of 30 minutes each day. b) The time of taking meal breaks will be determined by the employer.

  • Breaks 40.1 One 10-minute paid morning rest break and one 30 minute unpaid lunch break will be scheduled within 6 hours after work starts. 40.2 Where an Employee is required to work more than two hours overtime after the usual ceasing time of the day or shift they shall be allowed a 20 minute rest break paid at ordinary time rates prior to commencing overtime. Employees who take payment in lieu of stopping work for this break will be regarded as having worked a further 20 minutes and shall be paid at overtime rates. 40.3 An Employee working overtime on a Saturday, Sunday or Public Holiday shall be allowed a 30-minute combined Rest Period/Meal/Crib Break after four hours work, such time to be paid at double ordinary time rates, with a further 20 minute Crib break to be paid at double ordinary time rates if the overtime continues past 8 hours worked. 40.4 In the case of overtime work being cancelled by the Employer at the end of the 4-hour minimum or any time thereafter, Employees will, in addition to the payments as prescribed, be paid for the 30 minutes combined Crib/Meal/Rest Period if not already taken. 40.5 If work proceeds beyond the 4 hours minimum then Employees will be paid for all time so worked.
