Relieving (Higher Duties). 31.1 An employee is entitled to an allowance in respect of a relieving and\or interim appointment (known as Higher Duties) if: The payment of Higher Duties Allowance is approved and signed off by the Manager, Pilotage and Navigation. For Shift workers, relieving or higher duties covers short- term relief for each completed shift when relieving duties are performed and will be paid at the higher rate.

  • Higher Duties 27.1 Where an Employee on any one day performs two or more classes of work to which different rates of pay are applicable, the Employer shall pay to the Employee the higher hourly rate for the entire day if the Employee is required to work in that class of work for more than 2 hours, and if for less than 2 hours during any one day the Employee will be paid the higher rate for the time so worked.
