Common use of Religious Exemption Clause in Contracts

Religious Exemption. Should any employee be unable to pay their contribution to the Union based upon bona fide religious tenets or teachings of a church or religious body of which such employee is a member, such amount equal to their fair share shall be paid to a non-religious charitable organization mutually agreed upon by the employee affected and the Union. If the Union and the employee are unable to agree on the matter, such payments shall be made to a charitable organization from an approved list of charitable organizations. The employee will on a monthly basis furnish a written receipt to the Union that such payment has been made.
