Salary Step Placement Upon Promotion. When a Unit Member is promoted to a position at a higher salary range as the result of applying and being selected for a vacant classified position, the Unit Member shall be placed on the first step of the salary range for the position which will grant a raise in the Unit Member’s base salary of at least one full step, except the Unit Member shall not be placed on a higher step than presently held.

Salary Step Placement Upon Promotion. Any employee promoted to a higher class or assigned to a higher pay grade within the class to which he/she was appointed shall be advanced to the lowest rate of the salary schedule for the higher class or pay grade, or the rate of compensation next higher to that received by him/her prior to such promotion, whichever is the greater. If the employee is entitled to a step advance pursuant to Article 7.1 Section A on the same day as such promotion or assignment, the step advancement shall be considered to have occurred prior to such promotion or assignment.   • Salary Upon Promotion ‌ Except as otherwise provided herein, any full- or part-time employee who is promoted to a position in a class allocated to a higher salary scale than the class from which the employee was promoted shall receive the salary step of the appropriate scale that would constitute an increase of salary most closely equivalent to but not less than five percent (5%) of the employee's salary step before promotion, but not less than Step E of the new class nor greater than Step I of the new class. If a promotion occurs on the same day a merit increase is due and approved, the merit increase shall be computed first and subsequently the increase due to promotion. An employee who is promoted shall be considered for a merit increase when the employee's total hours, in paid status, exclusive of overtime subsequent to promotion equals 1,040 hours.   • Salary Schedule Placement 1. Credit hours for the purpose of placement on the salary schedule shall be defined as those semester hour credits earned for graduate courses that are within the teacher’s present certification or a planned program leading to additional areas of teacher certification, guidance or administration.
