Saturday Holidays. In the event a legal holiday falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be observed as a holiday; provided, however, that except where the Governor declares that such preceding Friday shall be a legal holiday, each department head shall make provision for the staffing of public offices under his/her jurisdiction on such preceding Friday so that said public offices may serve the public as provided in San Francisco Administrative Code Section 16.4. Those employees who work on a Friday which is observed as a holiday in lieu of a holiday falling on Saturday shall be allowed a day off in lieu thereof as scheduled by mutual agreement with the appointing officer within one (1) calendar year of the date of the holiday. 401. Employees required by their respective appointing officers to work on any of the above-specified or substitute holidays, excepting Fridays observed as holidays in lieu of holidays falling on Saturday, shall be paid extra compensation at the rate of time and one-half (1-1/2) the usual rate of pay for all regularly scheduled hours worked; provided, however, that at an employee's request and with the approval of the appointing officer, an employee may be granted compensatory time off in lieu of paid overtime at the rate of time and one-half (1 1/2). 402. Ten (10) and twelve (12) hour employees shall receive full holiday compensation for the regularly scheduled shift worked on a holiday.
