School Partnerships. Cutting across outreach and transition to university will be a new intensive school and college partnership scheme both in London and the regions, identified as Access Partner Schools. The OFFA guidance for 2018/19 includes a strong expectation that OFFA will see greater numbers of higher education providers sponsoring schools. The appropriateness of this expectation for small Higher Education Institutions was discussed with the Director of OFFA at his meeting with small and specialist providers in March 2017. On reflection the School’s Senior Management Team determined that this approach was not appropriate for the Guildhall School and investment in this area would significantly detract from its very discipline specific approach to raising attainment in music and the performance arts to counter the declining offer across the state school sector (see section 3). Although the School is one of the smallest HEIs in the UK, it already has a very extensive under-eighteen provision of which just a small proportion is submitted as OFFA accountable. In 2015/16, through Junior Guildhall and CYM centres, over a thousand young people accessed high quality music teaching every Saturday. A further 46 students were involved in a regular acting class, and 130 in the London Schools’ Symphony Orchestra. The CYM regional centres have expanded further into Peterborough and numbers are expected to grow. Additionally, the School is owned by the City of London which is itself a sponsor of a number of academies across Greater London. The School already has a relationship with some of these academies and will be looking to develop its relationships with the secondary-level academies as part of its Access Partner Schools initiative. (c) Except for the Contributors, no party has any interest in the Partnership or the right or option to acquire any interest in the Partnership or the property or any portion thereof.
