Primary Schools. For the purpose of reduction in force at the elementary level there shall 17 be considered to be two areas of certification: early childhood to include pre- 18 kindergarten/kindergarten and elementary (grades 1-5).
Primary Schools. (a) The ordinary hours of duty for teachers in primary schools shall not exceed thirty (30) per week.
(b) For All Hallows’ School, the ordinary hours of duty for teachers in primary schools shall not exceed twenty-seven and a half (27.5) per week.
(c) Teachers shall be on duty fifteen (15) minutes before the morning assembly and shall remain on duty until the time of dismissal of the school for the day.
(d) Principals may assign to members of their staff duties requiring their attendance until a time not later than thirty (30) minutes after the time of dismissal of the school for the day: provided that such duties shall be allocated, when practicable, on a roster basis.
Primary Schools. (a) Assistant Principals
(i) Primary schools shall appoint, in accordance with this Agreement and CECWA policy, an Assistant Principal (Religious Education) and an Assistant Principal (Administration).
(ii) The allowances shall be as follows: From 1 September 2006 School enrolment (100-300) School enrolment (>300) From 1 February 2007 School enrolment (100-300) School enrolment (>300) From 1 August 2007 School enrolment (100-300) School enrolment (>300) From 1 February 2008 School enrolment (100-300) School enrolment (>300)
(iii) In addition to the promotional position allowance, an Assistant Principal is also entitled to receive a Senior Teacher (Catholic Schools) allowance where eligible.
(iv) In lieu of the provisions in this Agreement and the Award, an Assistant Principal may elect to sign a common law Deed of Agreement. Primary Special Responsibility Allowances (SRAs).
(i) SRAs are not portable between Catholic schools.

(iii) In schools with enrolments less than 100 students, the whole SRA must be used for the person who is designated by the Principal to be the person-in-charge when the Principal is absent from the school.
(iv) In schools with enrolments of 100 and greater, the Principal shall decide the number of positions (eg school with enrolment of 150 could have 4 SRAs at 50% allowance each), the duties associated with the position and the level of allowance in each school within the following parameters:
Primary Schools. Deputy Principal/leadership team
(a) Schools with enrolments greater than 150 students shall have a position of Deputy Principal except:
(i) where co-Principals are appointed; or
(ii) where the Principal decides, with the support of the Consultative Committee, to have an alternative leadership structure (note that this can only occur at the conclusion of the tenure of a Deputy Principal).
(b) In schools where an alternative leadership structure has been agreed, the Deputy Principal allowance shall be added to the per capita pool figure specified in clause 61.2.
(c) Schools with enrolments less than 150 are not required to engage a Deputy Principal. Where a Principal does elect to engage a Deputy Principal, the Deputy Principal’s classification and rate of pay shall be in accordance with the lowest enrolment band of the Category B Deputy Principal salaries in Schedule 2.
(d) In each school, there must be definite arrangements in writing regarding responsibility for the school when the Principal is absent.
Primary Schools. The total scheduled class time per week in clause 60.4 may be averaged over the term, save that it cannot normally be more than:
(i) 23 hours in any one week: and
(ii) 22.5 hours in any one week in the 2024 school year and subsequent years.

Primary Schools. (a) In primary schools, Teachers do not normally provide relief teaching in the usual course of work, with the exception of part-time Teachers, for whom the arrangement constitutes a temporary increase in hours and who will be paid pursuant to the provisions of clause 16.4(h)(2).
(b) When a specialist Teacher is used to provide relief because there are no relief Teachers available, and should the provision of such relief mean that the Teacher is not able to complete scheduled work that was planned, the Principal shall, after discussion with the Teacher and by mutual agreement, provide assistance for the Teacher to catch up the scheduled work at a time that is mutually agreed, or the Teacher may elect to be paid for a temporary increase in hours which will be paid pursuant to the provision of clause 16.4(h)(2).
Primary Schools a The ordinary hours of Duty for Teachers in Primary Schools shall not exceed 27 1/2 per week. b Teachers shall be on Duty 15 minutes before the morning assembly and shall remain on Duty until the time of dismissal of the school for the day. c Principals may assign to members of their staff duties requiring their attendance until a time not later than 30 minutes after the time of dismissal of the school for the day: Provided that such duties shall be allocated, when practicable, on a roster basis.
Primary Schools. (a) Each school will be delegated a budget, proportionate to its complement of teaching staff, from which it will be expected to finance such provision of supply staff as might be felt necessary in respect of:
(i) periods of absence not referred to in section (b) below.
(ii) internal rearrangements of class commitments necessitated by staff development or similar causes.
(b) Resources will be retained centrally in order to finance the provision of:
(i) cover from the first day of maternity leave;
(ii) cover from the first day of a period of foreseen long-term absence (ie absence indicated by medical certificate or similar document as likely to extend beyond the period stated in section (c) below);
(iii) cover for long-term absence, other than on account of maternity, in accordance with the terms of section (c) below;
(iv) cover for absence on account of trade union duties falling within the scope of the authority’s agreement with teachers’ trade unions;
(v) cover for jury duty after the third day of absence;
(vi) cover, considered necessary following discussion between the head teacher and the head of education services, for absence resulting from participation in the work of the LTS, GTCS or other similar national body;
(vii) cover, considered necessary following discussion between the head teacher and the head of education services for absence resulting from participation in the work of the authority, for example as a member of an appointments committee or working group; and
(viii) cover in other circumstances where the head of education services is satisfied that an undue burden might otherwise be placed on the school.
(c) For the purposes of clauses b(ii) and b(iii) above, cover shall be funded by the authority on the following basis:

Primary Schools. For the 2021-2022 School Year, the district will reimburse the primary school Dual Language teachers (paid at curriculum rate) up to 8 hours per month for curriculum development and lesson planning, fully educator directed. The Critical Issues Dual Language Program Review Group may make a recommendation regarding the monthly primary teachers’ 8 hours at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. School principals may still request Dual Language teachers to attend professional development, curriculum development and team planning through use of substitute teachers or pay card after the work day beyond these 8 hours.
