Common use of Seniority Tie Breaker Clause in Contracts

Seniority Tie Breaker. In the event that more than one individual employee has the same seniority date, the tie shall be broken by using the length of time that the employee served as a substitute in the bargaining unit. If the tie is not broken based upon the length of substitute service, position on the seniority list shall be determined by the last four (4) digits of each employee’s social security number, with the highest four (4) digit number ranked first.
